View Full Version : Defender TD5 De-Cat pipe. How much and where from?

Hi Guys,
When I (and my 110) was in the UK I removed the front exhaust section (with the CAT in) and replaced with a straight through one. I was told that the car wouldnt be allowed into Australia in that configuration and so put the CAT back on, stupidly, I didnt bring the de-cat'd front pip with me.

So, where could I get one from and roughly how much are they?

Thanks
Jon

Hi Yorkshire_Jon,

I haven’t been able to find a supplier in Aus, was thinking of just having one made up at an exhaust shop.

I recently ordered some bits from Bell Auto Services in the UK, only took 5 days to arrive.

I know that do have DeCat pipes, Maybe we could get 2 ( 1 for your TD5 and 1 for my PUMA) and go halves in the freight ??

Your thoughts ?

I think RovaCraft sell them, I know they sell the pipe to remove the centre muffler. I would give them a try.

Decat TD5 = $365.00 in stock
PUMA = $330.00 in stock

Centre Pipe = 260.00

Cheers

Thanks - I hadnt intended buying one just yet / for a little while - I set off on my Canning Stock Route Trip next week so I reckon it'll be September before I can do anything. I dont want to touch the car now, she's all ready for the off!

How much is Pete (Bell Autos) selling them for now? I know Pete well from when I lived in the UK, thats where my last one came from!

$365 for a local one sounds expensive to me. I think my last one was about 80GBP. Even allowing for a couple of years inflation and courier costs, would be cheaper than $365.

Just a thought... Would a TD5 De-CAT pipe fit in a suitcase, or be allowed on a plane if strapped to the outside of a suitcase?

I have a mate arriving from the UK on Monday!!

They are about 50-60 quid from the UK... its just the freight that will mess it up.. well the TD5's are anyway.. you could also looked for a pre eu3 downpipe from an early td5, not sure if the disco and deefer are the same tho?

TRS quoted me about $200 for one the other day I ended up buying one from Rover Craft in Perth for close to double that because of freight but thats another story.

As long as it is not see as serving as a weapon you could probably get it in as hand luggage, if it is straight try a cardboard tube. If it's going to be an issue they can always check it with the luggage in the hull.

99% sure it would have second hand, i have got a few things from them as a last resort.

Although the eu2 pipe has no cat their is still some restriction in orignal flex joint.

Glad your happy with the axles, you can now use that locker in vain.
