Issues with P38A Rangie - Condensation/Mould

Hello,
Just "upgraded" my wife's P38A to a 2004 Volvo XC90 with 7 Seats, and have thus been presented "back" with her Blue Rangie.

I've noticed for some reason the interior seems to get damp in the car overnight.... some light condensation on the Rear Cargo Carpets and all Windows always seem to be fogged up.

I've checked all the seals around Doors and Tailgate etc and all seem good, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Also when left unlocked for 4-5 days the Battery Flattens on the car... is this normal because we park on a bit of an incline and I wonder if Air Suspension is adjusting and leaving the battery flat.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

A few things I can think of:



This would be obvious but are is it using coolant? If so, suspect heater O-rings.
Sun roof drains blocked? But this would be an issue only after a lot of rain. There are four drains, one in each A-pillar and one each side exiting above the wheel arch liner. See sunroof

Most likely? Blocked air con drains allowing condensate to get in to the car. Get underneath and clear the drains - on each side of the transmission. Here's a pic of one of mine:

Disconnected air con drains because someone has poked something up the drain holes. Again, another pic from my car. It's the lower convoluted rubber tube (one each side of the tunnel) that is disconnected from the drain:

The key to what you say is that you park on an incline, do you park with the front higher than the back?
If so water is getting in through the top tail gate seal.
If i know there is going to be a lot of rain i park with the back higher than the front so water runs of the front, mostly.
You might have a lot of leaves behind the top seal give it a good clean.
Check plenum filters and the rear air out filters also in the tail gate.

Battery your BECM is waking up/not sleeping could be from a spurious signal wanting to unlock your doors.
I had a lumbar support switch playing up once, the only way to find the power drain is with a multi meter run it through the battery terminal and start pulling fuses till you find where the power is going.
This is time consuming as you need to wait about 3 minutes for the BECM to sleep, when it does you should be draining <.2 amp
Not many of us will get more than 5-7 not running the RR before the battery is flat.

p38arover -
1) Not using any coolant... although the Heater doesn't appear to work that well, I know I have a couple of failed Blend Motors in this car, but even still the heater barely works at all.
2) I'll have a look at these, but this can happen even after not having any rain at all.
3) I've cleaned the drains before, however I have done this using a Coathanger so potentially I could have knocked these Air Con Drains out of their holes... Surely this would leave the Footwells Passenger/Driver Side somewhat wet?

Also, double check your spare wheel well.

There was a common problem with the tailgate seal that allowed water in and it flowed down and accumulated in the spare wheel well.

I had this problem at one stage and I was quite surprised by the lack of evidence above the floor, but below the floor in the wheel well was about 5 litres of water sloshing around.

DON'T I KNOW IT!!!!:angel: Took me ages to work out where the waterwas coming from, let alone the exhaust fumes.
