I pick up my new puma tomorrow, I have the window tint guy working on it tomorrow.

My plan was 15% on the front and 5% everything behind the drivers seat.

Is that too dark and will it cause issues in terms of visibility?

Btw I'm new to the site and looking forward to posting photos soon.

Cheers, J

G'day Def11, Welcome and congrats on your new purchase. I cant really comment on the window tinting but thought I'd say hello anyway.:)
Have you worked out how to post photos?
Rule Number 1 for aulro.....it didn't happen without pictures.
Personally I'd go for as dark as possible but I'm no expert.

It was my understanding that all Defender windows other than the windscreen already had a 20% tint. Not sure what the situation is with the windscreen.

There may be some confusion here. It needs to be clear whether you are talking about the percentage of visible light filtered out (this is the figure I stated for Defender tinted glass) or percentage of visible light transmitted. In NSW, the driver and passenger side windows must allow a minimum of 35% of visible light to be transmitted (ie no more than 65% may be blocked) (see www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi03_rev3.pdf (http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi03_rev3.pdf) ). I believe the figure varies between states.

I went to the darkest legal tint available and really like it and no effect on visibility whatsoever. The front window is clear as required by law:

Probably too late now but I got darkest legal tint on my 90. Its good in day but I find that you get reflection at night. Not a problem until you go to turn into a dark street and you can't see out driver side window. Would suggest a lighter tint on front doors.

Thanks to all the feedback. I ended up going for 15% all around, it will provide the the same dark look as the 5% from the exteria however more visable from the inside in dark situations.

Picking up the car on Monday, will posT photos then.

Cheers.

I went for the legal 35% on the front side windows, and 25% on rear ones. I have weathershields and they have a slight tint to it - I find it difficult to see out of the driver side window under the wrong light conditions, made worse by the white bonnet. I'm thinking of getting a matt black decal fro the bonnet to see if that helps the problem. I would not go 5% on the front aprart from being illegal - it is very dark. The 25% was best fro heat rejection - any darker and according to the manufacurers brochures, the heat rejection got worse not better as it went darker.

I gave a pretty dark tint on the rear of my 110. In fact really really dark. Was like it when I bought it.

But I found that at night I can't see anything out the back. So I put a camera in the back so I can see behind at night. But I love the dark level of my tint
