I've had my V8 county as a daily driver for work for 4 years now loaded up with tools for work.
I reguarly treat it like crap and it just keeps going and going (hasn't let me down once in all that time). keeps up with traffic and gets up all the hills.
But I need a better set up for tools(hence the tray back with more space) and I worry that the 300tdi or td5 if I stretch the budget won't take the same sort of treatment that will be dished out with a similliar reliability.

So has any one seen a 130 v8 conversion or got one ?
What would be the legalities of this conversion ?
Thinking about getting a tired old 300tdi and putting a 3.9 V8 into one and would like to hear peoples thoughts.

hi county,
a few years ago i did see a 130 with a 6.2 ltr ( i think ) chev diesel
this would have been a TDi model,
brunswick diesels at brunswick south of Perth do conversions, i did send them an email when i had my 130 td300 few years back, but no reply, maybe didn't send it properly.
seen a couple of places in magazines over east that do v8 conversions.
V8 diesel's sound great
hope this helps a bit
cheers

I don't see why a 3.9 can not go in a defender and be legal in queensland the max for a defender is 5.0L i think.

It would be the easiest way to go v8 in a defender.
