All,
I'm considering this system 4WD Winches Australia, 4WD Winch Kit Australia - Bush Winches and Anchors (http://www.bushwinch.com.au/)
instead of a Tirfor for my FL2. Does anyone have any reports good/bad/horrific for this simple system? Broken axles? Works like a charm? Ropes tangle? Anything?

I can see where it could go wrong; also see that it could be brilliant. Any real-world experience sought, particularly for AWD or FL2.

dont bother, you can do exactly the same thing without a wheel winch by lowering your tyre pressure and then wrapping a rope around the wheel tread.

Id be going a tirfor over one of them

I think they had their origins in the 2nd World War.
I use to have one that I designed and built on a couple of Subarus and they work very well for the smaller 4x4.
Saved me walking home a couple of times

Had to laugh at Part 2 of their demo video you could do all they say OR drive a Land Rover lol

I saw one being demonstrated at a field day & a tirfor gets my vote after that experience !!
There is a smaller one suitable for a FL2. Less room taken up by the looks too.

They're not cheap - if I remember correctly they want around $800 ish for them. Go with the tirfor, you can use it sideways and around the house.
