New to forum - glad I found it - just rewired my box trailer and replaced tail lights with LEDs - already have found out that dash light indicating trailer lights are working does not work when LEDs fitted - thanks!
However - when trailer connected both indicators flash a weak orange - checking feed from LR I have found that there is 12volts present for both L an R indicators even when indicators are not on - current is obviously not full as LEDs are flashing dimly?
Is there a short some where?? I guess I need to visit and auto electrician unless someone has some bright ideas??
Thanks
Bill

There is nothing wrong.
Look at this thread...

Do a search - there is plenty on this.
LEDs trailer lights do not work with a D3 as there is not enough resistance in the LEDs to register on the cars systems - either change your trailer lights to incandescent lights or buy a module that goes into the wiring that provides the required resistance for the LEDS to register.
Someone should be along to tell you where to get one and how it fits in.

Hi Billrw,
I had the same problem, I bought the module as mentioned above everything works a treat now. My problem was I bought the led lights, fitted them, found the problem then the module cost me more than the lights. Doesn't matter now, the module is universal and travels with the car so I can hook up any trailer with led lights on it not just my own trailer. Its worth it.

Thanks for reply - where did you get the module from?? I am halfway through making up box to attach to trailer permanently but having module sounds good/more versatile.

If it is a very quick flash it is normal as the D3 sends a signal to check the trailer is attached.
This is why you need a device to stop this flashing. Pulse shunt or similar.

Does anyone know what resistance or minimum wattage globe is needed for the systems in a D3 to register a trailer is present.
Another example of Landrover outsmarting themselves in trying to make systems more complicated than they need to be. What a load on nonsense that you have to buy a "module" worth a couple of hundred just to get modern trailer lights to work.

X2
Also you can get an in car version from David also.
I have mounted mine in the rear l/h side & switch it on when required. I sometimes tow different type trailers with incandescents & L.E.D's.
This saves having to remove/refit to use the unit.
Cheers.
