Giday Discoites, has any one purchased a rubber seal for the front windscreen prior to replacing the glass. Left it to the pro's last time and they made a poor job of it, had to take it back a second time cause they didnt seal it properly the first time! Windscreen just be hit by rocks from a truck and need to get it replaced but want to purchase a new seal to take in to replace old one at same time. Cant find one online and unsure of cost of new seal when getting glass on insurance?

I can't help you with a seal but I can agree with you about dodgy fitters...

....bought a 98 disco to wreck and when I pulled out the trim, I spotted the front screen (which was pretty new) had been put in using sikaflex only. That had been a poor seal and the rust was unreal. The screen leaked and had caused massive corrosion down the A pillar and across the top of the screen.

So, don't settle for anything but a factory seal - i'd sit in the workshop and make sure one was fitted. Bit that's just me being a cynic.

Good luck with the search - maybe Paddock spares???

Matt.

Thanks Mudmouse, that discription describes our last experience with a replacement under insurance. A not happy Jan moment, with shody fitting (wind blowing directly onto dash) and the indignate B/S from the young staff when asked to fix it.
Hafto replace another one and thought that a new rubber might go a long way to getting it fitted right.

Had the same problem with a new screen. Experts supoosedly fitted a new set of seals. Had to go back twice to get the job re done and again later when the a pillar rubbers fell off! Oh, Brian, what did you do.

Priced a complete windscreen seal from Kotara 4x4 a fair while ago and it was $700 from memory?

This is for a D1.
