Plagued by my mouse

I have a laptop running W7 and use a wireless mouse o.k. However 2 days ago my cord mouse on my desktop computer packed it in so I took the wireless mouse, plugged the usb receiver into the computer. The program found the new device and after installation said it was installed correctly. However the mouse wont work- pointer stays still. Running W7. Any suggestions? Jim:):):):)

There should be a button on the bottom of both the mouse & the receiver that says connect or similar.

Once the pc is running, just push both buttons, and it should connect. You may find that a re-start of the pc will help too.
