Hi all,

I have a 12v Shentai wrench and they are supplied with four metric sockets including 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, and 23mm to fit most wheel nuts.

Does anyone use these?

The question I have is what size are a Defender (Puma) wheel nuts? The 23mm is too small.

IIRC its 27mm or 1 1/16" - something like that

Sorry I cant be more specific - At work and my brains hurting today... :(

27mm 1+1/8th it is...

dont use it on your lock nut...

in fact dont use it... trade it in on a decent 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and torque wrench.

it'll strip the lock nut off and wont tighten the wheel nuts up correctly or evenly.

They're just a rattle gun at the end of the day and I can guarentee that mostly they will get used a couple of times then be left sit in a cab that gets hot then cold, condensation will form up inside the thing and thats the end of the brushes in the motor.

then odds are you will work out that this is whats happened when you are left trying to remove the wheel nuts that have been over tensioned by the tyre changer or someone using the 12v impact wrench only to find that the only thing you have to use is the bit of plasticine cunningly disguised as a 27mm wheel nut spanner.

I have one of these and for $80 its bloody great, had it for 5 years and its only just starting to die, use it all the time for stripping cars. But it does stay in the shed, breaker bar and socket stay in the car:)

Yes, my socket set has both sizes as well, Metric (27mm) and AF (1 1/16").

But my ASCII set dosn't have 1 1/16 at all . :wasntme:

I bought one of these at a 4WD show years ago. Excellent invention! Have used it several times for removing the P38 wheels (27mm socket) ..but NOT replacing them. It was also very handy for removing the flange nut from the viscous coupling drive shaft AND giving it a slight "touch up" when replacing it... haven't had any rust issues.
