Well I did, after many months of mulling over the remap for my Puma I bit the bullet, I have just ordered a remap from Alive in the UK, don’t know when the unit will arrive and how long it will take to get the new tune but waited this long so just more time to get excited.

I have 65k on the clock now and the ride is getting shocking, it is as rough as dogs bollocks and getting worse by the day.

It does have a faulty EGR and I will be getting this replaced, I am hoping this is the main culprit for the ride, but I will be making sure it is running well again before I do the remap, it also does the EGR shut so that will be good also.

I know a few people on here have the BAS remap and I did consider it, from what I have read on defender2.net they are much of a muchness, it really came down to personal preference and of course it was $150 cheaper :D

I will post when it is done with my findings, now I just have to wait on the credit card statement so I can hide it from the misses..

Patrick, if it's out of warranty, why not just remove the EGR and get Alive to make a map that prevents the MIL light from coming on? I'm sure they can do this.

Hey Naks,
Still got 15 months left or 35k and that will probably be up in 6 months they way the K's are going up. LR are replacing it so no biggy at the mo but will get it removed then.

Cheers

My Atric has arrived, cant wait to do the business and get my new tune, unfortunatly the fender is in the shop getting a new EGR and fought for clutch replacement, they are also looking for the problem I have with the metal on metal knock when approack lights and come of the motorway, it is so bad the car vibrates..

But when it comes back I will be doing the tune and then maybe a little dance..

Hi PatClan,

You atric device from TD5 Alive looks identical to the BAS device, other than the sticker on the front, even comes in the same box.

Hope all works out well, I am sure you will be happy with the result.

Did you do the intercooler or exhaust ?

Cheers

Hey Drover,

I read they were pretty much the same device, it was really down to the cost and free updates that I went for the Alive on, also reading on the defender2 site there have been issues with flat spots on the BAS one lately, not that it swayed me, mostly down the $$.

No exhaust change yet but looking into an intercooler, can get one from alive and works out around $900 delivered, and can get one in OZ for around 1000- 1100 just not sure which way to go is it worth spending the extra for local support or not, probably does not matter too much but something that is holding me back, also not sure what landrover would say as it is still under warranty, if they see larger intercooler would they look elsewhere to see what has been done, not that I would send it in with a remap on it anyway.

Thinking about getting a mantec plastic jobby snorkel too, been putting that off due to cost but Paddocks has them for 116 pounds at the moment and 91 to ship it, might buy 4 and put the others on ebay to bring down the shipping cost, can get 4 delivered for 225 gbp.

or should i just spend my money on the intercooler...

so much to think about...

cheers Patrick

Hey Pat,

I got my intercooler from Alli-Sport cost was 496 GBP or $784 AUD delivered to the door.

I have tried the PUMA with the standard map and up grade. Even on the standard tune the intercooler makes a very noticeable difference.

I have had mine at the stealer and there has been no mention of the new intercooler (despite the blue silicon hoses), I have got them doing an end of warranty inspection and they are investigating a noise in the drive line when maintaining about 110km/h.

My next mod is a "De-Cat" pipe from Rova Craft. Should give a slight performance gain, but importantly reduce the EGT's.

Cheers

Yes, you can use standard hoses no problem at all.

Actually, fitting the hoses was the harder than fitting the intercooler.

Cheers

PS : ebay is the cheapest place to get you silicon hoses.( and they are TeraFirma)

Just ordered the intercooler from from Allisport, £489.67 shipped.

Was the intercooler easy to fit? I don't mind getting into it just dont want to break anything and put the warranty in jepordy, need to search pout instructions now.

cheers for the advice on Allisport, they have been helpful so far.

Pat,

It not difficult just a bit of a pain. About 2 hours or may be a bit less.

You just need to be prepared to dismantle the as you go. Grill, top radiator support......

I have got a few pic's in "Puma Performance Up Grades" thread.

Cheers

For an extra 100 UK beertickets, get a set of Samco XDB hoses made exclusively for Alive Tuning.

I just installed mine and will be getting my map done this week by them. :bigthumb:

I will wait to I install the intercooler now before I send alive my current config.

Can't do much anyway car is still in the dealers, getting a new EGR and clutch and trying to find the source of the grinding knocking noise.

Will check out their hoses, one for next months wage..

Hope you like your remap, will be interesting to hear what you think of it.

Hi, as you have the Atric remap there is no need to remove the EGR as the remap will keep the EGR closed for 100% of the time and cancels out the self clean cycle (5x chukka chukkas). I have the remap and added a xgauge to the scangauge 2 to monitor the EGR and it does stay closed all the time.
