Hi all, can anyone recommend a decent (not too expensive) new front bar?
And which engine temp monitors should I look at?
Thanks

I've also fitted one of the ebay ones to the transmission cooler pipe and it works well. Also sits nicely on the small ledge in front of the radio.ENGINE GUARDIAN WATCHDOG GENERATOR ALARM HEAT MONITOR | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ENGINE-GUARDIAN-WATCHDOG-GENERATOR-ALARM-HEAT-MONITOR-/180667058113?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a109887c1)

Thanks guys, that was the one I was looking at. Do I need the relay to link it in with the oil light?

I think the relay is for controlling an external fan or horn. There is another unit on ebay that has an additional wire to connect to your oil pressure sensor.

Just bought the one from eBay for $130.
Now to fit it and then look for a new front bar.

Ok, engine guardian just arrived but not being electrically minded am after some clarification with installation.
I have removed an old am radio from a dash pod and was planning on mounting the guardian there but have realized that the power supply is permanent (how easy is I to change that?) also, where should I mount the sensor? The instructions say on the engine block by the radiator inlet hose. There are no bolts there to use so where else?
Also, what exactly does the push button do?
Any advice and photos to illustrate ideas greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys an gals

Behind the original radio (inside the dash hole) there will be a permanent power supply for the radio memory. Tap that and use. As for the bolt, the thermostat cover should bo a great place for it. Looks right size bolt, is right near the temp sensor and hottest part of water outlet.

As an after thought, does the guardian have an on/off and do I have to remove any dash components to get the wire through the firewall?

Just read the ebay stuff, button looks like a setting button plus it temp live overides the alarm. Looks like the only wire to pass into the engine bay is the sensor wire. Shouldn't be an issue. You'll need a large enough hole for the wiring to pass through the dash top but the old radio, if I understand correctly it's fitted to the dash top? Lower the panel under the steering column and pass the wireacross to where the grommets pass on the right.
And forget what I posted above about a scangauge, won't plug into the D1.

Scanguage?
Thanks again, I just want to have it clear in my head before I start and stuff it up. Lol
The instructions say to power it from the ignition cable but I was planning to take it from the existing old am cb radio power.

I'd take it from a ign switched source else it's on all the time. Though it may require constant power for setting memory. Bench test first.

I just found a power supply under the stearing wheel that when off when the ignition was off.. mine is attached to the cd player I assume as when tahts off so is my engine guardian..
the push button is a live override.. so if your doing some 4wdriving and the temp is above 90, which you expect.. push the button and it will give you another 5 degrees..
I've mounted mine on the roof console just above rear vision mirror i'm about to go for a drive so I'll take a photo and post it when I return

Hey Fev
Re front bars, there are often D1 front bars for sale on Ebay and they usually go for cheap compared to new prices.
cheers,
Terry

Engine Guardian all fitted and working well. I went out in the car and the temp got unto 78 at its highest, is this about right? the default is a warning at 90 and then a full alarm at 95. should I leave it at this or drop it down to 85 and 90 respectively?
Cheers guys and gals

Any ideas? Very occassionally my revs drop for a fraction of a second as if about to stall and then the engine picks up again and all is ok. I've recently replaced the ignition module, HT leads and dizzy cap and rotor.
I thought it was a poor HT lead connection but after reseating them all it is still occuring.
Thanks all

To clarify, the revs drop to 0 and occasionally the "check engine" light will flash on.
