We mounted ours in the pocket at the bottom of the console, image posted here (on the second page, 1/2 way down. Click to enlarge):

Works well, out of the way but you can still manually activate the system...

I had a Redarc Remote Head unit installed in mine. All you can see is the small control knob and an led that shows when the brakes are on. It fits beautifully in the little blank panel just behind the hand brake 'switch'.

I wasn't keen on drilling holes in any of the panel work below the steering wheel and/or having the usual type of unit dangling around making the intereior look ugly. :)

I'm going to push-fit my P3 to the steering wheel height adjuster lever on my D4 when its required. I don't know if the D3 has the same style of lever. I've bolted a small bracket to the supplied large U bracket so that the unit has to be pushed firmly onto the rubber handle, with the display just visible though the steering wheel. I don't yet know if the weight of the P3 will pull the lever down over rough terrain though but can test that tomorrow.

Edit: I'll have to mount the P3 elsewhere as it vibrates on normal roads.

I've tested a new bracket and mounting spot for my P3 in my D4. Its bolted to the supplied small U-bracket that's fitted to the top of the P3 plastic bracket and clips over the top left of the cover that's under the steering wheel. Its held in place by the cover itself, it requires no holes and is visible through the lower left of the steering wheel. It does not shake or vibrate and lifts off when not required. I'll post some pics when I've tidied-up the bracket a little.

I took exactly the same path.
A bit fiddly to get the wiring through neatly but 'do-able'.

I thought I could provide some pics stored elsewhere but will have to wait until the gallery is operational again.

I didn't have the ability to do it myself, so I paid someone (a small fortune) to do it for me. Much less stress:)

I supose it depends on the size and model. Mines mounted around about in front of my left knee on panel underside of the dash. Cant even notice it unless looking for it, I've got long legs but dosent touch. Out of site out of mind!!
