View Full Version : D4 purchase - Sydney or Brisbane

Not long now before we return to Australia and purchase a D4. As I can fly into SYD or BNE, I am not particularly concerned where I purchase the vehicle. My license is QLD (relatives address), so ultimately I would need to re-register the vehicle in QLD.
I have asked a dealer in BNE and SYD for an on-road budgetary figure for the D4 SE 6L. The Sydney dealer came in around $3,000 cheaper than the Brisbane dealer. Admittedly it was a figure for the budget, but would have assumed both would try to make the figure as low as possible.
Does anyone have any idea if it is financially better to purchase in Sydney or Brisbane?

Do it by phone with a number of dealers in both cities and then get more off when you do the deal. Make sure it is at the end of the month, if they get it into the monthly figures sometimes they will be prepared to make no money or even a loss.

Thank you for both replies. As I need to decide which city before I leave China, contact by phone is not viable. However, what I had planned to do is to inform both dealers that I am able to fly into either city and that I would like a very realistic drive away price.

Steve thanks. I assume that you have dealings with Peter. I will have a look at their site, and possibly email him.
Toowoomba to the airport or BNE city is a good distance (approx 160km). Would be a good opportunity to test drive a Discovery, but doubt he would be impressed making two return trips. Take up his whole day.

Hi Dahai,
(I have tried to post this twice from work but..??)
Dahai,
If you would like to travel a little south of the border then maybe even get a quote from one of my work colleagues at MLR. (Melbourne City Land Rover)
Andrew is the Corporate Sales Manager at our dealership.
T: 03 9684 1073
E: aefthimyiou@ulr.com.au
Great guy to deal with.
Can also pick up from from the airport if required too.
You may even want to enquire about the "Corporate Service Plan" this entitles you to 3 years scheduled servicing if you qualify.
Cheers, hope this helps.

Sniegy and kredstall thank you both for their comments and assistance, and sniegy thank you for persevering. I have heard of the "Corporate plan", but unfortunately I do not qualify, but that is not to say I will no enquire about it and see if I can "tag" onto some account etc.
Before I book my return flight, I will ask for a realistic price from a dealer in SYD and BNE.
Again thank you.
Edited to add note:
Sniegy I have sent you a PM.
