Drilling Puma dash

G'day all,
I was doing some work on a Puma 130 yesterday and the owner asked the question......would it be safe to drill the dash (in the area indicated below) to screw mount a microphone bracket.
I'm not too familiar with the Puma's innards in this spot.
Can anyone provide some info of what's behind that angled section of the dash.

AFAIK, it's empty space in that angled section. But before you drill, remove the centre panel and feel around to see how much clearance there is.

Why not stick the bracket on with double sided tape. No permanent damage that way, and you dont have to worry about what is behind the panel.

I am not a fan of using self tappers, especially when there is wiring in the vicinity, as this can rub through. Here is a pic of the general area, low down the page.

It is only a matter of removing 2 screws and popping out the center dash and I think you can get your hand around the back of that area.

Thanks for the replies.

We actually had the centre panel off, but only thought about the mic bracket after we refitted everything.

I think I would be trying the double sided tape option myself. As suggested above, it can be removed without any permanent damage. There are some pretty good tapes available that take a bit of budging.

thats where i put my mic
from memory you should be able to put your hand up from
the bottom and feel around for wires, should be all clear.
(that doesnt read very well does it )
