Well, just as the mini-rebuild and respray of the 110 is coming to an end (Booked into the sprayer for next week, body capping replaced, roof taken off and put back on and leak finally fixed, etc.) I notice there is a slight diesel leak in the garage where it's been kept.
I'll have a proper look when I can get it on a ramp, but if it is the tank itself, it's the excuse I've been looking for to fit a long range one....so, which model?
I know ARB does the LR, and OL do another make, and there seems to be a bunch in Sydney doing there own version. Cost seems to be within $200 of each other, so isn't a primary consideration, so what are people running, what's considered "best" and why?
Oh, and if there's any suppliers I've missed, or anywhere with particulalry good pricing, let me know! Typically, I've just missed the 4x4 show too!
(Doubt it matters, but 300TDi, BTW)
Thanks

I'm in the same boat,I get my new puma this saturday and have been tossing up what to get,a large tank on the back just add's the the rear suspension load but the saddle tank on the drivers side just makes that side heavier and will cause the suspension to sag quicker,I really want the offside saddle tank but they are an exxy way to carry two jerry cans of fuel. If I can find them at a sensible price, I'd like the 45l aucillary that goes between the filler and the main tank under the RHS wheel arch, and a stainless water tank for the other side....

As far as I am aware, Front Runner in South Africa are the people who make these. They are imported into Australia by Dolium. The fuel tank is stainless steel and the retail price is $875 plus fitting (see LR Def 2.4 45Lt Aux Tank - Dolium Pty Ltd (http://www.dolium.com.au/Retail_Catalogue_page/FTL49_item.html)). The water tank is plastic (with a steel guard) and is $365 plus fitting (see LR Def 2.4 32Lt Water Tank - Dolium Pty Ltd (http://www.dolium.com.au/Retail_Catalogue_page/WTP40LR2_item.html'ref_cat_id=Water_(Poly))). Available from various outlets including Opposite Lock and Mulgo (a regular contributor and supporter of AULRO).

That's ridiculously cheap as everyone I've spoken to so far seems to be in the $1100-$1300 region. Have you got/seen one? If they're OK, and you didn't miss a "1" from the front of that price, one will be on it's way tomorrow! :)

I had a LRA (long range Automotive) 140L tank fitted about 18 months ago, cost $1250.00 - This is the largest capacity on the market.

Very happy with it, if I had my time over again I wouldn't change a thing.:D

The default place for the water tap is horrible. Its right after the exhaust and prone to diesel soot, mud, dust crap etc. Not what I want in my tea! If you are going down this path I'd think seriously about changing the tap location..

Hey drover. Did the LRA tank effect the departure angle much? I fear it may hang a bit low.

Spoke to them today, and whilst they did confirm the price they knew almost nothing esle about the tank including it's capacity!! I'm also still waiting on my callback for a freight price!
Anyway, are you happy with it, and does it fit nicely and not screw up the departure angle or anything else?

Did it cause any trouble with the sway bar or tow bar?. Pat

Sure, I'm ready to go so drop me a PM and well organize something. As they said they only use TNT, once I actually get a quote it might be worth looking at one of these depot-depot deals as it will probably be much cheaper.

I am also looking for a long range tank and we have a TNT account so get good rates - If the tank is OK and it fits under well and does not hurt departure angles i may be interested also - split freight 3 ways?

Do you have a link to the site so I can see how well it all goes together?

Cheers

If your profile is up to date, you're a bit far away from us!! :)
They have amazingly little info on these tanks, so I'm going to take the risk given others on here are runnign them!!

No, not at all. The tank sits up underneath very nicely.

The bottom edge follows the departure angle precisly.

Note - that my tank is LRA Long Range Automotive, they are based in Victoria. I dont think it is the same as the Long Range Australia mentioned is this thread.

Did it cause any trouble with the sway bar or tow bar?. Pat

Sorry Pat didn't see this question,

The tank comes with extention legs that lower the sway mounts, you can see them in the picture on the last post.

As for the tow bar it is not affected at all. Again you can see it is the factory fiited unit.

So Drover the price you gave was fitted with the sway bar parts also?. Pat

Yes Pat, $1250.00 fitted.

The extension legs for the sway bar are part of the kit. The tank uses the original fuel pick up and sender unit for the gage.

Cheers
