While I don't have an iPhone, I've jailbroken my iPod touch more than a few times. I don't think it's worth all the hassle anymore. You can do some pretty cool things- even tricking your provider into thinking you're someone else! It all gets pretty technical though and many apps aren't free anymore. Plus updating is a total b*tch.

Provided you havet don't the recent update (still running 4.3.3) log onto jailbreakme.com and click yes. It's now that easy.

If your going to do that add installous as one of the providers in cidea and then you have all the paid apps like Tom Tom or any others you want for free.

Not that I recommend this.

iphone 4 is not an issue..
running a couple with 4.3.2 and 5b2 so not a prob :-)

just beware of some of the pitfalls.

unlike android phones, cock up the update, corrupt it during download or drop the power off and its a very expensive paperweight.

you have to make a very concerted effort to completely brick a linux unit.
