Forgive me if this has been discussed before.....

I've noticed my D4 gives you a warning message when the car loses contact with the key fob if for example you get out of the car with the key in your pocket.

What I am wondering is whether the engine will continue to run indefinitely without the key inside the car, or will eventually shut off?

Only if it runs out of fuel etc.

Yes, on one of the other boards, wife has key thing in her purse; hubby drops her off at work and then heads to work himself.

Later on in the day at quitting time, marriage is again tested.

LOL. Thanks for the answer guys.

I've found one benefit of the system: I no longer have to turn off the engine to give my wife the house keys (with car keys attached) when she often says "I forgot something in the house", after we are seated in the car in the driveway about to drive off.:)
