Hi. Im new to the forum but been looking and dreaming about land-rovers all my life.
I'm helping a mate remove his 4.6l engine from his 95HSE and wanted to know if there is a sequence to removing the heads from the block?
Thanks

Head bolt removal is from the outside bolts inward in a diagonal pattern.
So if you are looking at the left hand head side on, start with the bottom aft bolt, then top forward bolt, then lower forward, then aft upper, repeat this pattern on remaining bolts.
Best get your selves a manual.

Removal I've never worries about, especially with these as they are probably lose anyway. Refitting is important, please (and I know I sound like a broken record) use head studs when refitting. VPW )vic perf w/house) will be your closest. Just follow the instructins and they NEED to be pre stretched before finishing.

You will find it towards the bottom of this page Engine Refresh (top end) PaulP38A.com (http://paulp38a.com/99p38a/engine-refresh/) where I mostly documented what I did to my '99 model a couple of years ago.
Here's the photo for the LH head:
