Hi Series 1 enthusiasts, Im Rowan and this is Noddy my 57 or 58 Ser 1.
I collected him from Tin Can bay on the weekend, gave him a wash (not the engine bay) and as he refused to start, pushed him into the shed with the landcruiser.

Problems: the main lead from the coil has a dodgy connection, the coil gives a very intermittent spark and the fuel lines from the mechanical fuel pump and from the filter to the carby are leaking.

Once these are replaced, He should go. Any advice on the coil and leads, maybe the place to go for a new distributor and points, much appreciated.

Hi Rowan and welcome to the site.

You say you have a mechanical fuel pump - if so, then I suspect you have a later 2.25 litre engine rather than the original 2 litre engine - series 1's had electric fuel pumps.

Some pics would be great.

Heya Noddy - welcome to the forum and to S1 ownership! :) Judging from what I can see from your Facey pics of Noddy, I'd say you have a later 2.25 litre engine rather than the spread bore originally fitted - I base that call on the rocker breather/oil filler cap positions I can see.

And as Garry says, the 2 litre motors had electric fuel pumps that go clickity click on ignition. :)

You can use this link with your chassis number (above rear passenger side spring hanger) to find out what year Noddy is....
