Hi All,

I'm having some issues with the Head Unit/Stereo in the D3. A couple of weeks ago it just stopped working - no life in it at all. I suspected a fuse and checked them all (the fuse box is scary - I recon it must have more than an A380!!), but found nothing wrong. I then decided to remove the head unit and check for power at the connector block - all good there too. I plugged it back in again and it worked!? ....so I put the dah back together and thought nothing more of it until this weekend. It's stopped working again! Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?

Note: It's the poverty spec head unit, not the premium one.

Thanks in advance.

I've had this happen twice. The first time was when the D3 was new. It didn't like me using a pressure washer in the wheel arches and I had to do the master reset a few times to get the radio back.

More recently I had to get a patch installed for the same issue. Although I had to have the battery replaced a few weeks later so I'm not sure whether the patch or the battery was the fix. I was told the patch was specifically for the D3 V6 petrol.

Out of interest, what's your battery voltage with the car turned off and nothing running?

I haven't checked the voltage (wife's out in it at the moment), but I'm having no issues starting etc and the Stereo still doesn't work when the engine is running. Are you saying that it could be detecting a low voltage and shutting down? I suppose this could happen when starting!?

Yes. I had no trouble starting the D3 but I'd lose the radio and clock on start up. Only way to resurect it was the master reset which would fix it for a few hours or days.

Battery volts were ~ 12v with the car off and nothing running. On start it'd dip to ~ 10.x.

I'll check the voltage and see what I'm getting.

I'm thinking of swapping out the head unit anyway, but not just yet, so timing is not great :( ...plus I'll lose the clock on the dash :(
