P38 Flat Battery if doors are not locked.

Just recently I have been experiencing a flat battery every two days.
Checked the drain on the negative terminal and yes, the drain was excessive, about 680mA.
Did all of the common fault searches to no avail.
The receiver was OK and there was no relative prob in that area but the BECM was still staying awake and had no intention of popping off to sleep.
I don't often lock the thing just in case it decides to lock me out on it's own however, it appeared that it was the only way to get the BECM to drop off to sleep.
Not certain exactly why this situation is occurring but since keeping the old girl (not Mum) locked, the battery is no longer giving any problem.
So far it seems that new front door locks & Actuators may need replacing and that's going to hurt... :(

Even if the battery is flat and the doors are locked you can still open the drivers door with the key.
Make sure the steering lock engages when you pull the key out, otherwise the brain wont let the car go to sleep.
680ma seems a lot of drain.
I had a lumbar support button playing up once which was draining my battery.

I recently had something similar. Found that while I was away the other half had unlocked the rangie to get some shoes out (pair number 144) and left it unlocked. I came home to a dead flat battery. It has not played up since being left locked. I had to also go through that painful EKA code entry thing... Worked first time for me, so very very pleased!

We've had problems with customers not locking their cars and draining the battery. As mentioned above, the ECU doesn't go into 'sleep' mode and stays powered up. Also, if the locks aren't working properly then this can have the same effect.
The worrying thing is if the locks keep burning out as that would point towards a BECM problem..
