TJM Bullbar for 2011 Puma

Just wondering if anyone has had one of these fitted. Interested in any thoughts on Bullbar itself and side steps how well they work etc...

Are there any issues with cooling with or without mounting driving lights and a winch?

Is it recommended to upgrade front springs to allow for extra weight of bullbar?

Are the TJM springs ok or is there something better on offer?

I have bull bar and side bar/steps, happy with them.

Have added a pic, not the best sorry all I could find showing them. Can take another later if you want to get a better look.

Have not had to add stiffer springs yet but no winch will probably do that when i get one but going to try and avoid the steel cable so may not need to, while the existing ones are fine.

I fitted a TJM type 13 bar to the front of my MY08 awhile ago, just finished installing an OX 9500lb winch to the bar. Cooling issues - None. Suspension issues - yes. The front end had dropped and the handling (if handling and Defender can be mentioned in the same sentence?) has suffered. If you check back through the treads, there's a lot of information on suspension lifts on Defenders. Armed with that information, I'll be fitting a set of 130 springs under my vehicle to compensate for the extra weight.
One word of warning. If you intend to install the winch yourself, the wiring can be a bit of a pain! You have to think outside the with where and how you run your cables. Allow plenty of time to do the job. Bullbar and winch itself are not hard to inside, just the wiring.

Just fitted a steel bar and 12,00lb Ox. Front suspension dropped about 25mm. Followed the advice on here and stuckin some 130 springs and added a set of OME shocks while I was at it. Restored the height although the ride is a bit stiffer.

Spoke to a number of places and the non LR people were not too keen to get involved and the one LR place I spoke to wanted me to spend the next 2 months swapping springs and freight freighting the replacements back at forth across the country at my expenses. Didn't think the equation was that hard for a LR person..."I have dropped 25mm in the front of a PUMA due to fitting a bullbar and winch, what springs do you have to fix it"!

So far so good.

Luke, the side steps aren't the firmest, they flex quite a bit. I have them with the brush bars. The wife and the kids likes them to get in, and they stop other car doors being opened onto yours, but thats their best point.
I was told they flex but thought I can't see myself scrubbing them till woompa the side step bottomed out and the steps mounting arm dinted the sill.

I am still unsure what I will do. We have been waiting 3 months since we purchased the vehicle for the dealer to get us LR side steps. I am just a bit over waiting and looking at other options.

Really a bullbar would be a bonus but side steps for easier access is a must.

Do something like the Mulgo sill protectors/rocksliders make getting in any easier? I have seen ones that have a tube step but it appeared to be level with the sill.

I will have to do some more research.

I have the sliders with step from MULGO - there the goods.....But they dont make it that much easier to get in....... Its not what they are designed for. But after saying that Daniel will be able to do anything you want - so give him a call. He's a good bloke who gives good advice and wont stuff you around.
