Hi All, I was recently driving the H.I. rail road and have noticed the ominious whirring sound of what I think may potentially be another CV shaft going. It seems to be very noticable at about 80 Kph and under load, ie acceleration or hills. I'd like to be able to get it repaired in Karratha or somewhere near by and I know that there a few members who live in the Karratha area, so I was wondering where do they go for their work on the D3's or does anyone know of a workshop they would be able to recommend?
Thanks
regards B

There is a guy here who is a registered Land Rover Repairer but I cannot think of his name. It isnt advertised but Land Rover Aust gave me his details when there was a recall for the brakes on my D3 & I hit them up for a couple of nights accom in Broome as that was the closest Authorised repairer I was aware of.
Best bet unless you hear otherwise would be give them a call.

The only close authorised service agents are Perth & Broome. i get my D4 serviced in Perth, truck it down, then fly down and drive it back

Leetes at Newman are authorised repairers,Barbagallo's allow them to do servicing and warranty repairs. Pat

Pat303 , I very much doubt that they would let Leetes touch it ,
I recently Diagnosed me mates 2009 TDV6 as has having the faulty Brake light switch syndrome . They , Barbidolls , immediately dispatched a truck from Perth to Pick it up , sure enough replaced the switch and then freighted it back . I certainly wouldnt let them touch it if it were anymore than a straight engine oil and filter change .

I have never found anyone competent that I would trust to work on a Land Rover in Karratha.
Even if you found someone who was prepared to (I would be surprised) I would be very careful.
I take the big items to Whyatts in Geraldton as I have found the Broome Dealer to be pretty average.
Shane at Barth Brothers use to work for Lance the now gone Land Rover dealer he may be able to assist but I would doubt it.
If you get really caught PM me I may be able to assist

Well its a case of Caveat Emptor then , but theres a rather large gap between a D3/4 and and a Defender when it comes to "Servicing" .

I know what you mean Pat , about the Stamp thing , but there is no-one "Good" per se in Newman that would be any more capable of anything other than changing oil and Filters , even then they would have issues with a TDV6 fuel filter !!. Most of the ownwers usually wait to a trip to Perth comes up and then gets the real servicing done.
