The mud flaps on the rear right of both my 110 and 130 have both been warped by spilt diesel. I have a set of Toyota mud flaps that are white and look like plastic. They look like they're less likely to warp, but I obviously don't want these on the 130, and was wondering if anyone has found mud flaps that don't warp when in contact with diesel.

I know I need to stop the diesel spilling, but I think it's inevitable.

Stopping the diesel spill seems to be the logical answer, and you must have some serious spillage going on........ Is it that hard a fix ?

I am with you all the way on this one Ranga! I tried and tried to stop the vent in my filler cap leaking diesel onto the mudflap, but alas. I bought a new cap but it was just as bad. I ended up pulling both caps apart and putting the ball bearing from one into the other so the little see-saw valve had two balls on it, and therefore double the weight. This worked to some extent, but not completely. I find if I keep diesel off the mudflap, like if I don't drive it for a bit, the mudflap does straighten out a fair amount.

Does anyone else have leaking filler cap issues? I've been tempted seal up the breather hole and run a breather hose from a T piece in the 3/8 hose on top of the filler hose along under the tray and mount it with the rear diff breather.

I have a new PUMA and i fill it up to over flowing, (well nearly), and I have never had an issue.......

But on my old county.......well lets just say that 1/2 full was about as much as i could put in without an overflow on corners !!

Well I myself am scrounging around for a piece of conveyer belt thats thin and thick enough to make my own, I'm going to use the brackets that exists and make it a bit longer as well then the plastic jobs.
I don't know how rubber belts last with diesel on them, but then again I don't have any problem with spillage.
A few weeks ago I replaced both rear mud flaps on the 130 and have already lost the left side bracket and all, I think the threaded insert in the chassis gave way as it's gone as well, unless of course it was taken by someone.
Anyway I'm not about to go to all the trouble of getting another as I was going to go the way explained above.
Lucky I kept the old brackets;)

Something must be wrong around the filler area. Our Defender is 15 years old, has the original filler cap and we get no problems with spillage. The mud flaps seem to be good for another 15 years.
