Um, you realise that drawing is just something that autocar dreamed up? They have NFI what the actual prototype looks like (if it has even been produced yet).

Nobody but the team working on it will know what the concept looks like till it is unveiled, all these renders are from speculators just as many here are speculating about it.

I'm more anxious about the engine they choose. The new 2.2L Puma for 2012 will need to be impressive. I will bet it was only chosen because of its EU5 rating.
Dear Land Rover if you are reading this:

Sorry 2 say but still 2 less. :(

The most important change of course is the new, EU5 compliant, 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine that replaces the EU4 2.4-litre oil-burner found in the 2011MY Defender.

IMHO a straight 4 has many advantages over a more complex and expensive V6.

But to bust into the Aus market it needs a bit more displacement than 2.2 litres - in should be possible to have optional displacement engines and an extra 1.0 to 1.3 litres should be good.

But the drive train will need to be upgraded to suit.

Each to his own:angel:, I love the TDV6 (2.7) in the old man's D3. Pulls that fat arse D3 real well. I can only imagine how it would go in a 500+ kg lighter defender. :burnrubber: His has done just on 200,000km with no major issues. Still feels good too.
Yes the V8 would go even better, ok we'll have that as an option too.
Perhaps the 6 speed auto box option
and sals rear end .?
difflocks. (Jeep did get some things right!;))
bigger fuel tanks ( about the only thing they got right in the Prado:p)
