I am wiring a LED light to show blinkers operating where I can see it.

Where do I link it

Problem

1 wire into relay and it flashes OK but also flashes quick on neutral switch position

2 If I link into the idiot light panel with a single light I will bridge the L&R blinkers if I connect to both

Any ideas?

I cant hear the blinker relay as I am deaf.

OK I’ll chip in. It’s hard to diagnose electrical issues with only two sentences of information to go on. So treat this only as a guide.
I’m guessing your installing the additional indicator lights in your field of view because of your hearing impaired-ness?
Not knowing the model, age or required use of the vehicle makes it hard to second guess how you what the end result to turn out? And not knowing the type of connections or power supply required by the additional LED lights makes it a bit of a guess as well.
With issue #1: Power must be back feeding to the flasher can (relay) from somewhere, so I’d start looking at the way you have wired the LED lights in?
Issue #2: I would try and ‘tie-in’ to the circuit at the fuse box. You can temporarily check if this is going to work by earthing out the ’negative’ wire on one the LED lights and holding the ‘positive’ wire from the LED on the exposed part of the Left or Right indicator fuse. You may have to make up light little ‘jumper’ wires to do this. I’m assuming that there are ‘only’ two wires for your additional LED lights?
If the LED and original indicators work as required you’re golden. Find the output wires on the back of the fuse box and connect your positive wires for your LED lights to the corresponding Left and Right indicator fuses. Connected the ‘negative’ wire to a suitable earth.
If it ‘plays up’. Take it to an Auto Elec. The LED lights are probably not compatible with your wiring circuit or flasher can.
It’s only a guess, I hope this steers you in the right direction.

98 Defender Tdi

I tried the fuse and blinker relay.

Relay worked on L&R but quickflash in centre position (off)

I am using LED in order to keep draw low so the trailer indicator still operates.

Not familiar with the 98 Defender
But it sounds like a similar thing that my 08 Puma is doing since I installing my bullbar.
Trailer light on dash blinks when I turn on the indicators, all other indicator functions work perfectly.
I understand what you’re trying to do now. I have thought about doing the exact same thing. I haven’t got passed saucing replacement bullbar indicator assemblies yet, still haven’t found the right ones.
I’m no Auto Electrician, but it sounds like some sort of relay or diode needs to go between the power input and the new LED indicators to stop the ‘back feeding’?
I don’t have any concrete answers for you, I can only make suggestions and educated guesses. I would suggest talking to someone like ‘Jaycar’ or ‘The 12 volt shop’ or a reputable Auto Sparky, Electronics Shop and see if they have any ideas?
Just thought of something. What about installing a second flasher can to supply the LED’s on their own circuit? Ie Get hold of the same type of flasher can fitted to the vehicle (both flasher cans would be synchronized then), connect to the incoming power supply from the indicator switch to the original flasher can, Left and Right. Run a separate circuit out to the LED indicators? You would have to protect the new circuit with fuse/s.
Again you could test this theory before shelling out any cash buy making up a little ‘jumper circuit’ between the vehicle wiring loom plug and the flasher can. Just have the LED’s connected and not the vehicle indicators. Or if the original circuit is fused after the flasher can you could just pull out the fuses and connect the LED light directly to the incoming power supply to the fuse holder? Test it and see if that works.
One thing of note. When I was looking through the bullbar fitting instructions (TJM Type 13) it did mention that the trailer light indicator on the dash would blink when the additional indicator lights in the bullbar were connected. So TJM recognize this will happen, might be worth a phone call to them?

The LED isnt the problem, maybe I wasnt clear.

The LED remote light works as planned when the blinkers are on but the problem occurs when the blinker switch is in the central (off)position as this is when the remote light quickflashes.

I dont understand why and suspect that there is a stray back voltage.

I have just replaced my Hi/low blinker control switch so I will test it again

Assuming it's like the td5, which it probably isn't, Try checking voltages at the harzard light switch. On the td5, this switch comes before the indicator lever in the circuit, so for your purpose of having a flashing light regardless of indicator direction, this is where I would connect it
