Wrong forum for a question like that. You’ll get nothing but justifiably biased opinions here. Go the Fender.;)

If you really want to convince yourself not to buy, make a list of all the mod's you may/will do and cost them.
E.g: engine-chip, egr, cooler
suspension, lift? steering, shocks, raised mounts etc
wheels and bigger tyres(33 or 35 etc)?
drivetrain, ashcroft/hytuff/great basin/lucky8,axles, cv's,diff ratio CW, lockers,arb ashcroft.
Bling, cheq plate, protection gear ,cb , cargo/roll bar, roof rack , sliders/steps, bullbar, snorkle.
Then think of all the fun you will have with a brilliant SWB customised to suit you!:D

... and then realise you don't need any of these things (unlike other brands) because, out of the showroom, a Defender is the best 4x4xFar. ;)

That said, I lashed out in 2010 and bought a new D90. No significant reliability/mechanical issue after 35,000 km. Its performance is just blQQdy brilliant.

Hi there Disco Mike,

Hope you will be impressed with the 90, if you have any questions PM Ben (whitekerb). He's had his now for a couple of months.

If you're quick and get one you can bring it out to the WA_AULROians Family Fun Day in September for a good "First day out".

Cheers, Jurgens.

90 or 110.......... I chose the 110 because of the extra room, because I had previously had the 110 and I also found that it may become a nuisance getting my kid in and out all the time......

But I loved the drive of the 90 :D and fanged the stealers demo model around for 50kms !!

Having been through the same exercise in October; Are you planning to do any serious towing? The 110 is much better than the 90 for open road towing according to the landrover booklet. So I went with the 110, to get the purchase approved by management.

My favourite landrover is the 2A, hence love the 90. I just figure I will have to buy one as a project one day.....

You will get waved at 99% of the time in a Defender!

Signed a contract today subject to salary sacrifice aproval. They are now only $39,990.00 plus on road costs. I have ordered a white one with snorkel, alloys, towbar and sidesteps. This will be the last shipment of defenders in this shape to come to Australia. They arrive in Perth in December had to get my order in asap as they are trying to dump lots of red ones on our market. There is another brand new one in Applecross seen parked at the local shops several times lately. Cant wait for Santa this year ho ho ho off to the bush we go!!!:D

Oh lucky man. I walked out of A.R.B. Midland today and saw how fantastic a Defender looks along side the lesser 4x4's. Good luck and enjoy.

I like this,I am trying to explainn to my missus that she doesnt need the leather and plastic wood anymore. The dog can go to the beach with us,she wont have to spend Sunday arvo vacuming the carpet in the disco. I got around the "Is to small to sleep in " by selling her on the idea of a roof top tent. Hey the Queen drives one , Its top of the cool board on top gear, Its an investment they will go up in value, Its the culmination of 63 years development. By now she has given up and left me alone. Ha LOL:D

I just found out my new 90 will have the jag 2.2 litre diesel. LR says it has the same performance as the current 2.4 ford transit motor. Jag claims 147kw and 450 nm of torque. Its either detuned or there telling fibs.Could be some serious remapping of the computer if it is detuned. I like the sound of 450 nm of torque.:D

I'm no expert but I think you'll find it's still a Transit motor.

I didn't read thru all the pages but you've now joined an even more elite club than you did when you got the disco. Did you read the blurb here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/134851-defender-summary.html
it should convince you that you've made the sensible decision
