G'day all,

We are hopefully going to spend a few days at Flat Rock campsite near Ballina in early October. Anyone know if its worth throwing a line in around their, either off the beach or in the river?

Cheers
Sean

Hey Mojo,

definitely worth throwing in the beach rod if you're planning a few days there.
I have fished 7 mile beach on the southside of Broken Head for some quality Tailor in the past.
I would imagine that the back beach of Flat Rock would also be well worth a shot.
For what it's worth, if you coincide a high tide around 9pm with quality bait (bonito or mullet strips, IQF pilllies), hit the beach around 4pm and fish until an hour or so after the high tide, you'll stand the best chance of nailing a few Greenbacks.
Keep all torch and vehicle lights out of the gutter you're fishing in, and take a pair of waders with you unless you like losing the feeling in your legs!
Also good chance of Jewies if you fish within reasonable proximity of the headlands or have a really deep gutter.

Hope you get a few...
