I run two computers, one desk top model and one laptop for travelling. Both run windows 7, and I use windows live mail on both. My problem is that only using the laptop occasionally, when I check for emails, it tries to download all emails received since I used the laptop last even though I have received these emails on my home computer. Somehow they are being held in my online inbox and not deleted once downloaded to my computer. Such is the problem that I cannot really use my laptop for emails. Any suggestions as to how I can prevent this, and only pick up emails I haven't previously downloaded? Jim

If you click tools -> Accounts -> select your account and click properties -> click the advanced tab at the top you should find an option at the bottom of the window which lets you set how long you want messages left of the server

my guess is your either using imap or pop3 and this option is ticket and you haven't set the delete after x days.

I use my laptop to access my emails via webmail (Bigpond), I can choose to view or delete without having to download them all. Also no attatchments download until I ask to view them.

The answer you seek is ...

On the main PC go into Live Mail
Under File-Options-Email Accounts
Choose the Account and click Properties
Choose the Advanced Tab
Change the Leave a copy on Server to the numebr of days you wish
OR untick leave copy on server

Next time you use the Laptop it will only download the no of days you selected or if you unticked will only download the new mail
