The time has come to have my Defender 300Tdi Injector pump rebuilt/resealed as it has been leaking for a while and I don't want to tempt fate any longer.
Can anyone please recommend a diesel specialist in or around Brisbane to do the job?
I can always take it up to MR Automotive, but it's just a hassle to get there and back for me.
I would appreciate any pointers you can give me.

Many thanks.
Scott

I have used Highway Diesel at Coopers Plains in the past for my County. I was very happy with the performance improvement. I did get a shock at the price because I had made it clear they were to contact me if the bill was going to go over $1000, and they never did. When I came to pick the vehicle up, they wanted something like $1500 but when I reminded guy of my $1000 limit, we settled amicably on around $1100. I'd use them again.

I used this guy when my D1 300tdi was leaking from the injector pump.

KRM Diesel (http://www.yellowpages.com.au/qld/eagleby/krm-diesel-fuel-injection-repairs-automotive-maintenance-12055870-listing.html)

He is mobile, so came and sorted the fuel leak while I was fixing an oil leak. Very good and knows his stuff.

Pat, it's dripping from the bottom of the rear of the pump. I suspect it's coming from the throttle shaft seal, but I'm only guessing.
Is there a way to check definitively?

The big o ring seal between the h.p. head and body is not hard to replace either. $10.

more likely leaking from pump head "o" ring.

I have just replaced this "O" ring on my 95 tdi 300 disco,
in situ, eg without taking injector pump out.
See dieselgeek.com for procedure, i will privide detailed photos and step later. This fix will cost you under $20 and 4 hours of your time, beats $1100 for a pump shop to fix.
I used a bosch seal kit from ebay for $45 ex UK

Sounds more like pump head "o" ring leaking.

This can be done in situ for under $20 and a bit of time (4 hours or so)

Just did mine and happy with result. $1500 on a car worth $4000 just doesnt make sense to me.

Mines a 95 TDI 300.

Try "dieselgeek.com" as similar VE pump fitted to VW cars (VE means VW)
Lot of stuff on net how to fix leaks on IPs, it aint rocket science as we are led to believe.

Will upload photos and procedure when I get time.
also have done research on "o" ring equivalents

Where do you fill up/get diesel. I had a problem a while ago with the fuel pump leaking and talked to the good guys at MR and they recommended that I use Caltrex to fill up as the other have less sulphur in and can effect the seal in your fuel pumps. which made me think the last time i filled up was at a seven eleven which I never usually use I normally only use caltrex, and since then touch wood its been fine! Just a thought........

BK u sealing urself insitu or removing pump ?
Head o ring cx is straight forward insitu and can confirm my diso runs without smoke now, so head oring leaking must make fuel rich, it is part of cold start mechanism i believe.

I havr athread on landyforum but can say reseal head urself is worth a try,
Only caveat i found is the brackeg beside pump that attaches to oil filtet housing is worth removing as it is close ro pump lwr left corner making o ring placement dofficult, also remove lift pump for access, buy 50 mm long ht hex bolts for o ring cx and these can replace torx t30 as they are easily damaged and head is veru shallow. I didnt cx the shorter head screws nut should have as these have very thin heads, they are 45 mm long 6 mm diam 5 mm hex head.
Dieselgeek. Com procedure is good just usr shorter bolts and lots of o ring lube to slide o ring ovet heaf. Viton type o ring a must .1 inch thick and .226 inside diam.

Ted
I went down the path of a new pump - not a lot more than a rebuild.
My fuel was usually from BP, but may have come from others as required.
I don't think 7 eleven fuel is that bad. I wouldn't use Freedom Bio though.

Cool scan,

I know west oz fuel high sulphur especially perth.

What i'm getting at is ur pump dont need a full rebuild just a $20 seal kit and 4 hours to reseal in situ (without rEmoving pump from engine)
So u save like a $1000 bucks
