We need a thread for general discussions of the Evoque.
So here it is.
http://cdn5.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rr_evoque_dynamic_5dr_03_hr.jpg
I gather that the entire Victorian (or maybe Australian? ) first consignment of Evoque’s has been pre-sold.
This follows a world wide pattern – more big $$$ for Land Rover.
This can only be good for the brand as a whole ! Yay !

It's a flea-lander 2 with a trip to the body shop! Nice look though! The plastic surgeon responsible should get a pay rise

Really? based on what dfribble do you base that?
This car will bring the green oval back into the red and ensure a future.
BTW, I have paid a fully refundable deposit placed on one and be having a 1st hand look here in SA on sept 12th.
I will post some pics.

The "new" Evoque is based on the chassis and driveline of the current Freelander... I could be wrong, but I'm sure it was mentioned on top gear and I also recall reading the same in the herald sun. Sorry bigfelka, I didn't mean to burst anyones bubble, thought that was pretty common knowledge and this was a thread to discuss all things Evoque.
As stated, its a nice looking soft roader just the same!
Based on the edgey look there is little doubt they will sell like hotcakes, and pump massive amounts of profit into Tata's Indian bank accounts. Hopefully they will be as good as or better than the flealander and ensure no decline in the LR-RR Marques' perceived images.
For further discussion... Apparently the 2 wheel drive version is deemed a solid competitor to BMW's New Mini!?! Who would have thought hey?

ok ok,, the facts:angel: yes it starts life as a freelander, BUT it is highy modifiyed and not much freeloader left, the hole roof line is lower, rear sub frame is riped out and started again front fram is changed,, rear seats are changed and set lower, and a **** load other things, so yes it is a freelander but nothing swaps over prity much, so its a range rover :p
oh they feel like a baby range rover aswell, driving is very good, ride has the same feel as the real rangie but it dosent have the shear size behind it to make it perfict,
very good car, and i hope people got there orders in qwick cos 95% of the ones comming to aus are sold/got names on them,

Has anyone who ordered one of these been able to haggle any on price or are you happy to pay full price?. It seems with the amount of demand at the moment and for the foreseeable future the Dealers will have all the power until supply outstrips demand which could be a year or so. If anyone has managed to get a discount can you let me know what discount you got?
I spoke to a dealer the other day and there are a fair few available that are coming in but as soon as they start hitting the streets and more people are aware of them then demand will go through the roof.
I'm suprised there is not more interest on this forum about the evoque but you guess a lot of you guys are the hardcore 4x4 types?

im not 100% sure how it works, but i was told that a certen amount are comming on the first load, and people want the first ones so they get sold at full price, cos if you order one at a discount and some one elce will pay full,, they will get the first pick, we get alot of people comming in asking to see one, infect theres a show of one today in briz that our sale guy is taking a few customers down to,
sooo i think if you want one your gona have to pay up for the first few months,
oh our dealer ship is doing a release of the evoque on the 28th of next month, there allready in aus but not shiped out,
doing a 2 day drive couse of them next week i think:D:D 1 day on rd,, 1 day off:angel:

Started liking them more now that I realize there may be a lot of used soccer mum driven Sports coming on the market soon!
Can't wait to see what earlier models end up back on the used market for. They may even become affordable for bogan's like me to try and set up for decent off roading!

Hang on - if the sporty RANGE ROVER Sport has to live in the lowly Discovery section how come the Range Rover Evoque which is just a Freelander 2 gets to live in the Range Rover section.
Double standards apply here.

Nice looking machine. For the entry price you would be mad to get it over a D4 unless you genuinely didnt care about room, towing, offroad ability.

We had a couple here in SA at Solitaires and since I put a deposit down 8 months ago I had 1st pickings.
I got my deposit back to cut the story short.
Bae models will not come for some time as they see little demand.
they start at $49k but none will come! Bizarre.
The 2 models they had were at $80k and $115K, for my money that is way too rich as that Rangie sport territory.
Cars are nice, have great feel but everything is an option, typical really.
One with leather, roof and reasonable stereo will be $69k and no haggling.
Oh well

Didn't like the look of the Evoke at first, but now it is growing on me, especially the interior.
Refuse to buy a 2wd version on principle, that is not a LR/RR thing. Nor would I use it for any serious off-road work, but it would be lovely daily driver around town and on the motorway.
Getting very tempted.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi guys and ladies,
I am brand new to the forum, due to the fact I have an order for the new Evoque. It may be based on the Freelander 2, but it ends there. Demos arrived this week in Canberra and my Evoque 5 door Dynamic SD4 in red is due to arrive in February 2012. Yes it is quite pricey, but as it is 6.5l/100km the luxury tax doesn't start until $75k. Including on road and all accessories (no panaramic roof as it is a fix one only) around 90K.

Agree something should be done... I reckon either way wouldn't matter, let's just be consistent hey mod's?
And another question for thought... (even though some might object) why aren't P38's and D2's on the same page? Don't they share some fundamental chassis architecture and mechanicals?

This is a thread in the Range Rover section not an Evoque Forum within the Range Rover section, as a thread it can be moved anywhere without changing the structure of AULRO.
IMHO - The Range Rover classic shape, the P38a and the L322 were the top of the line in their time and had unique drive lines. The RRS was never top of the line always marketed as the poor man's Range Rover in much the same way as the Discovery arrived on the market. The RRS does share the same platform as the D3/D4 so remains in that section.
Perhaps the Evoque should be in the Discovery section to keep the RRS people happy, however what I feel is irrelevant it will be the admin who make a final decision.

Hey Stig,
Can you add some info to help cure my curiousity?
Are they trading in existing LR's on these new jiggers? If so, what types? If not, what are they trading?
Also, have Freelander sales stalled?
Thanks, Dave.

Jeez, this thread should have been called "where should we put the RR Evoque thread"... :D
I was hoping for some good gosip on how they are selling, etc. Not a debate on where we should chat about them...
Anyway, on my travels around Port Melbourne today, there was a few on a truck heading to MLR, and I saw at least 2 being taken on test drives - very nice loking vehicles on the road. I saw 1 Blue one, and 2 White ones, but I'm not sure if I saw the white one twice...:p
Still on top of SWMBO car list, but she will have to wait a few years until they start turning up at a decent price second hand.

if you mean trade in as in trade anycar, sure they will trade any rover, or eny car for that matter, but im sure the $$ they give you , you will need to be sitting down, i no of 2 v6 disco 3s been traded in for less then 17k, the trade in market for eny thing past a few yrs old is dead,
as for freelanders, its still abit steady, cos a freelander you can drive away in now,, as for LV its a good next yr wate till you will drive away,,
and all of the RRv in aus are fealy speced up,, so at least a 70k car, fare bit of a jump from a 50k freelander, ;);)
alot of fleat componys get freelanders so there still farly steady as such,

Not sure how many have test driven the Evoque, it is quite different in design and the way it drives to the Freelander. It is definately not a Freelander.
The Evoque is much smaller than other RR and LR, it is really only a four seater not big enough for 5 adults. It also is shorter and smaller storage area.
My understanding is many people think it is too small. I think the size is ideal, only need to seat 2 most of the time and carry enough for two people.
In regards to where to put the thread - it seems fine where it is! :nazilock:

Had a look at a 2 door Evoque at the LROC Sydney meeting last night. Not interested in the glass roof, too much sunshine in this country and you'd have to keep the A/c flat out to keep the temp down. Otherwise seemed O.K as a soft roader.
I wonder if I can get mum to trade in her Corolla and we can have a car I wouldn't mind being seen in?

Now I have ordered my Evoque, I have been asked by the dealer do I want Paint, Vinyl, leather and carpet protector and a couple of other offerings...
Any recommendations as it is quite expensive and needs to be done early if worthwhile.
Look forward to everyones opinions!!

All are a waste of money - if you do want any of these get these - either do them yourself or get someone else to do it - much cheaper.

Haven't seen tears of wanton desire since the Beatles first came to town.....
She's already fingered "FOR SALE" on the back window of the D2a.
In all her graciousness, she has allowed me to keep the Rangie......
I feel so lucky and honoured..... ;/

I saw my first Evoque in the flesh yesterday, at a set of traffic lights on Newcastle St in Fyshwick.
If the driver is reading this, I was the guy in the blue P38 Rangie holding up the traffic trying to get in to Maccas while ogling your car.
I'm in love! The gunmetal grey/silver Evoke was stopped but looked like it was exceeding the speed limit.
I want one... might have to pay the folks at Lennocks a visit...
