My computer at home was as lagged as buggery yesterday.
It took minutes to execute simple commands like open a folder.

When I had a look in the task manager, there was a process running called:

plugin-container.exe

using 98% of CPU resources and a huge chunk of RAM as well.

What the hell is it?
Will it come back?
How do I stop it?

Have done a full system scan with Avast – all good apparently.

Supposed to be some sort of feature in FireFox related to plugins. Loads plugins in there own 'space' rather than in the browsers 'space' so if the plugin crashes and burns then Firefox escapes. Lots of people report the same sorts of problems. Don't know under what conditions it arises.

Anyway

How to remove plugin-container.exe forever (http://youtu.be/qPbuxlfwvto)

BTW I don't really know all the issues here, ie the implications if you do disable it. So you need to satisfy yourself first.

Cannon - yeah mate I DID google it. Plenty of people are having the problem but I couldn't find anyone who had solved it satisfactorily.

Ferret - yes as you say that may be effective but what are the side effects eh ?

It's a bugger because FF is (well up til now) my favourte browser.
