As I am the first one back I'll get the thread started. Pete will give a more detailed post when he returns but thought I would let you know how the Series went for it's first long trip.
I must admit I was apprehensive. Gold Coast to Grafton for the old girl would be asking a lot, and with a top speed of 85kms/hr it was going to take a while.
However it made it down without a problem.

Ok lets see how we go on the tracks. I'll take it easy and just go for a short run. Well after we got lost and went down some rough washed out tracks with creek crossings only to find locked gates and have to back track up some steep inclines I thought for sure this might be where she would throw in the towel but no she did it no problems.

Wow. What a great vehicle I was triumphant.
I promised the kids we would go to visit their aunty in Yamba which would be good to break up the trip home and we may stop at Brunswick heads for a night as well. So we packed up in the arvo and headed off.
The old girl was running beautifully. Started to get a bit dark so put the lights on all good. Then all of a sudden smoke from under the dash and vehicle died about 15mins out of Yamba. My wow, what a great vehicle feeling suddenly disappeared.
Called NRMA as RACQ equivalent. By the time he got there I traced the burnt out wire, did some fiddling around replaced wire and we were good to go again.
Got him to follow us to Yamba where he came from, just in case but every we time turned lights on same thing happened. Managed to limp to Yamba with just parkers on.
So stayed overnight and thought well if we don't use lights and leave tomorrow should be fine.
Left the next morning but got about fifty kilometres down the road and same thing happened. Ok getting a bit worried now. Fixed wire again (dash by this time was well apart as I wanted to keep an eye on wires to avoid melt down) Got her going again. Well that seemed to be it didn't melt again and she made it home no problems.
So all in all she did well. The engine just kept going, but established wiring is not so good. Cheers Shepp.

nothing like roadside wiring fixes to make you nervous about how long before the next failure, glad to hear you got home safely.
we went down friday morning and arrived to find the others out and about, so after setting up we set off to find them, but found interesting tracks that ended in losing the trail in overgrowth or landslide, but we enjoyed our afternoon run.
sat dawned and i had a broken power steer pipe, so no green v8 was heard in the bush, that left grimace to carry the v8 flag for the day.
we set off to find a yellow thing in the bush, but didn't but we had a great time messing around on many side tracks.
i spent sat as eric's naviguesser and spent my day exercising by climbing in and out of the pax seat, boy that truck is high and a bit difficult to get into for me, needs a aged person ladder fitted to the pax side.
eric let me have a drive in the bush, and i can only marvel at how he can drive like a swedish rally driver.
i had some pics to upload however it isn't working just now so will try again later.
it is amazing where a d3 and d4 can go

Thanks to everyone who came along. We had a great few days. Didn't find too much in the way of difficult tracks but it is a massive area.
Campsite was nice, and the weather, with the exception of Thursday night was excellent.
Some pics below from our camera:

God you blokes...all stressed out about a new car! 30 metres of track out of 3 days and no (well...no too many) scratches :D
Thanks to Pete for organising this trip. I know you were disappointed about the number of tracks but you can only work with the info you have on the day. You'd think the govt could produce a map newer than 39 YO. Personally I had a great time!
Thanks to Eric for being chauffeur to the Nymboida pub (kich ? as it was).
Here's some pics.

Went for a walk on Saturday arvo and found this bloke. I couldn't find anything in shot to give some scale but his body was as thick as my forearm.
Shot taken from about 4 metres away.

As everyone has said, yet another great weekend away. Unfortunately as Brisbanites we didn't get Friday off as a holiday so we arrived Friday night.
Very nice camp site with the bubbling steam running just outside the tent all night :)

GE track log attached. Pete, look in the top RH corner near Shannondale. I think this is where we came to another farm cattle grid thinking it was private property but GE shows a well worn track leading to lots of others.
The GE image is dated 2011 but I couldn't find that pesky dozer!
