Not sure about costs, but take my advice and get your oil & filter changed at 12,000Klms.
Cheers, Craig

G'day, had my 2.7ltr D4's 24k service done at one of the Perth stealerships for $950 including a tyre rotation and realignment of the possum hunting headlamps. (apparently I was the first person to complain about this feature???)

Cheers Colin

Ditto on the 12k oil and filter change, easy enough to do yourself.

Sorry my mistake, service cost was around $850 forgot that I also picked up an oil filter for the next 12k service and a couple of other small items that were included in the account. I get the book service done by a dealer for the service record and do the intermediates myself..

If you have a chance, give Graeme Cooper LR a call (located in St Peters) as they were significantly cheaper than the dealers and LR specialists. They picked up the oil weep in the turbo on my 3.0. Only disadvantage is that there is no warranty work available, so I needed to book in with the dealer to get that done.

Many Dealers of all sorts of brands have little interest in reporting
faults that are warranty paid . Little labour and no parts-sales .
I know heaps of people who have tried-out this theory by not
mentioning a very-obvious leak/noise , and nothing's been said.
Front up on the first after warranty and they can spot all sorts
of costs . I've personally tried this on Ford , Holden & Toyota
over the years , and it's true for me. I like Indies ; no axe to
grind.

...one of the Perth stealerships for $950 including a tyre rotation . That is wicked . You can get
4 hours of whores for that ! This Dealer rip-off gets more expensive
by the day .....

For a comparison : My spare vehicle is a hardly used CivicVi '03
Got quotes last week for front brake pads ( rotors fine at 48k )
and fluid flush .

Honda Dealer was $295
K Mart was $300
Repco brake was $157 ......... they did it the next morning :D

Shop around !

PS. I love the way a yearly service has acquired the cost
of two six-monthlies ( minus consumables ). It's bollocks.

Personally I would never have my car serviced at an independent.

The dealers maybe expensive but atleast you get warranty on their work and if anything goes wrong you have the manufacturer to go to back to if it all goes horribly wrong.

You will also receive more for your vehicle at sale time if it has a full manufacturer service history. Of course non of this matters if the vehicle is out of Warranty.

Bust as the old saying goes different horses different courses

With you there AMJAM. I would much rather buy a second hand vehicle that was serviced from new as per schedule by the dealership in which the vehicle was purchased from.
This theory has worked for me in the past.

$950 for first service - OUCH.

My first 'real' service ie. the 24000km for my SE 3.0 fell while i was in Darwin. Well aware of the 'TR' code often applied up north in the dry season (ie TR=Tourist Rate), I was pretty pleased to pay $660 at the dealer there. The LR dealer in Darwin is super busy and is mostly a Mitsubishi dealer (amongst others).

Funny, the only times I ever had issue's was with dealers,my Tdi defender suffered numerous faults while under warranty and dealer serviced that suddenly stopped once I went independant,my Hilux was the same, the Toyota mechanics new less about the thing than I did. Pat

I would use a good independant specialist anyday.Half the price & twice as good.

Just my 2 cents worth......

G'day Ferret,
No their adjustment of the lights was only to get them back to factory spec after I'd tried to adjust them myself until I worked out the problem can't be sorted with only the adjustment screws.

Cheers colin
