Anyone fitted these? More of a military collector vehicle tyre I guess.

They come in 7.5x16 and I'll admit they are more show than go but could be an option for replacing my fossilised Mich XLCs as long as I never drive in the wet over 50kph.

This site is worth a squizz for wasting time on a Sunday in anycase -

Just like my old man told me "never try and cheap on the things connecting you and the earth - shoes and tyres"

Cheapest quote I have on the Mich's is 380 a corner.

Its NZ issue civi but kitted with a Mil roll bar, capstan winch and snorkel. The firestones certainly wouldn't look odd and from a quick search they will be a lot cheaper than the XCLs

Four ply tyres are OK for a show vehicle, but I would not use them for the way the vehicle is intended to be used. Six ply or perhaps eight ply.

Spoke to Ben at Vintage tyres today,
The Firestone Military 750x16 NDT will be a way off yet, the factory in the USA went bankrupt 18mths ago and the moulds have been sold off to another factory but will be other tyres that will be manufactured first due to demand.
Looks like it will be next year sometimes, price if it holds will still be $279 a tyre.;)
Not that will be a problem as if you go by what the economist predict we may see a $1.30Au to $1.00 Us

If you are real sneaky my be cheaper to get them from the USA.

Been here before.
No great deal with duty or GST if you keep it under $1000 - just have to find cheap freight.
Firestone (and others) put these things out at about $75 US.
Thing is as I understand, theres a deal with Bridgestone Aust (or others) And they wont sell to AU customers!
So we pay $280 via those who do have the deal:mad:
Way around it would be to buy through Ebay if you can find them, or from the anufacturer if they're first delivered to a friend / rello in the US who sends them on.
Rob.
