A copy of this wouldn't go amiss ......

Hi Sylvester... is your diff definitely cactus? Just curious as every report I've seen after an diff oil change has shown up the shards/filings of metal. I've just done mine also and had no large bits, just the normal fine 'filings'.
Would expect to have accompanying noise as well...?
Cheers.

Hi Mully! Yes the diff is on the way out ,about 10m KM I changed the oil and there where a few Little shiny bits on the plug magnet hence the oil change now, this time there was not enough space on the plug for all the bits, the bottom of the drained oil is covert with shiny bits definitely bearing material, and yes there was a faint noice up to about 70 KM ph.

Ahhh.. shiney bits at the bottom of the drained fluid is a fair enough reason for sure.
There is a bit of chatter here that might help: DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Exploding Front Diff = what collateral damage (http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic68421.html)
I've read a few things about pulling it out and seems not 'too' bad to do. Also seen kits for them around the $600AU mark.
Hope it works out for you... I know BBYER (sp?) on here has helpfully posted pics of his diff on the disco3 uk site. A bit of searching should show them up or let us know and I can find them for you if it helps.
Cheers.
