I need to run Repair but the recovery console wants the admin password. There's no admin password set on the PC and having researched the issue, I see its a know problem for which there's hot fix (Q308402). To get it you have to call MS support during the hours M-F.
Anyone know how I can get this hotfix file other than waiting for Monday?
Cheers.

Hitting enter does nothing?

"Enter" without a password quits the console. The checked the administrator in Users and the password is not set.

What is the problem that you are trying to repair?
I use UBCD4WIN (http://www.ubcd4win.com/) to solve most issues. It's a bootable disk that contains heaps of tools for repairing a windows installation. It contains a account management tool that allows you to set passwords. Setting the admin password might be a problem though.

You name it, it's got it. Slow, freezes, fails to boot up where it hangs on "Verifying DMA....". I did find a dodgy HDD cable which I replaced but I also wanted to run Win Repair to fix any boot issues.

If you can boot to windows, have you tried settting an administrator password?

Good point! I'll give that a go.
