No snake expert but I'd say that was a Tiger Snake by the banding
Found this one on Wiki under Tiger Snake so I think I identified it correctly.

Oh yeah, that's a Tiger!
Many years ago, I found one the hard way and almost bought the farm! (I was given the last rites) I would never forget what one of those buggers look like, ever!!!

I saw it from the defender as it had already started to make its way onto the track. Just after I took that pic it turned way from my direction but continued across the track. It moved very smoothly once it got into the grass, stopped bending (snaking) its body and move more or less in a straight line.
My wife was not happy about me getting out of the car.
I once got out of the defender where I had stopped next to a blackberry covered slope, snake was sunning itself at about face height a metre or two away. It took off before I noticed it was there, I had been looking out on the ground before I slipped on the waders which offer some snake protection and had not considered looking out at head height.

Most echidans I have seen have been quick to start digging in and seldom give you much of a photo opportunity. The first photo shows this one to be carrying a few big fat ticks. I was told this one was likely to have some parasitic brain infection as it was not normally as cautious/timid.

Just going through some old pics today in the lousy weather and came across these which we took when on hols at our daughter & son-in-law’s place when they were bringing up a few orphaned kangaroos.
After a hard days grazing, wonder what’s on - ……maybe Skippy???

'Elvis' was hand raised by Sharon and Alfred from a tiny joey after his mother was killed.
He has since been rehabilitated at a wildlife park at Batchelor and still comes in for a daily pat.

LOL ...."Elvis" would be the one approaching us - especially if we were carrying a camera - or better still some food. He would join us every morning for toast - and believe me, as he grew bigger he could reach everything on the table:D
He also got on wonderfully with their dogs - a Staffy cross & a Bull Arab cross. Even slept with them in their very large kennel.
Everyone missed him when he went to Batchelor, he was a big hit with visitors - but he had to go, he was just getting too BIG.

Yes you can let us see bigger images but I suspect it will involve using an image posting site like imageshack or photobucket.
I use photobucket and it is a simple case of: register as a user, upload your image, get the IMG code and paste that into your text of your message.
By using one of these image posting sites the space to hold the image is on the image sharing site and not on the forum server.

Tasmanian Pademelon (Thylogale billardierii)
This are a very cute native of Tasmania.
The capture was at the edges of the local creek close to home. The conditions for photography were TERRIBLE! bad light, overcast and dense bush.
Idid not have much time to prepare the camera due to be many dogs walking with the owners in the footpath about 20 meters form the Pademelon so I set the camera in program mode (auto) and tokk the image in raw using the flash.
This is the best that I was able to do :(

Arthur,
I've been pottering through these photography threads and I have to say... your images are beautiful.
One after the other I find myself looking at your images and thinking - "Wow I hope one day I can take photos like that!"
I suffer from the same thing Paul (Scarry) mentioned in the bird thread.... I learn something new, but don't find the time to practise it often enough..so I forget too much.
To me, your work is a perfect example of it's the photographer..not the gear that makes the real difference.
I have a nice collection of Nikon gear...some of it the same as yours. But I have not yet mastered it as you have...
Thank you for sharing such great work....

Thank you Mark for your very kind words, your work is very good as well.
I have plenty time to dedicate to photography but having said that 2014 was not very productive.
Which Nikon lens do you have and most important which kind of tripod and head?
Keep posting mate we all learn and enjoy for each others work. :)
Bytemrk
7th October 2014, 09:51 PM
Thanks Arthur,
I shoot with a D7000 and a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod with a Vanguard BBH-200 Ball head. I do however very rarely use the tripod 99% of my shots are hand held - which is probably a mistake.
As far as lenses go, I've been a little naughty :p
I started with:
55mm AiS f/2,8 Micro-Nikkor
AF-S 16-85 VR
AF-S 70-300 VR
AF-S 35mm f1.8
Tokina 11-16 f/2.8
Then I found a pro wedding photographer that was switching from Nikon to Canon.. at the prices I paid I couldnt resist:
AF-S 105mm f/2.8 VR Micro
AF-S 70-200 f/2.8 VRII
So obviously I have the gear, I just need to dedicate more time to getting better with it. Something I do really enjoy doing when i can find time. :)
Except the weight is a bugger, I tend to use the 70-200 more than anything.
Chucaro
8th October 2014, 07:52 AM
You have an excellent collection of lens. The 70-200 f/2.8VRII it is an awesome lens and very good for indoors sport photography but the reach without a converter it is not the best for avian photography.
Both micro are excellent lens
Many photographers under estimate the quality of the 70-300 VR and I assume that it is because the low price.
I have a Tokina 10-24 f/4 for landscaping and I believe that your Tokina it is very good as well.
The 35 mm Nikon is very nice, I do not know much about the 16-85 VR.
You have not excuses mate, if the weather is not good for avina or landscaping get you micro and explore the miniature world. It is a lot of fun

Kaye wanted me to photograph these bushes growing along our drive way today, someone with more horticultural knowledge than me will know what they are.
I sort of got side tracked and ended up doing a comparison between my D70 with its 18-70mm f3.5-4.6G ED DX lens and Kayes D90 with its 18-200mm f3.5-5.6G IF ED lens.
I was pretty happy with this result from the D70.

I like the D70 shot :)
Thanks Arthur :). It takes a bit more effort with the shorter zoom and less pixels, compared to the D90 which is also faster in focusing and storage than the D70. I like the 'feel' of the D70 better than the D90.
What I was alluding to with the D90 shot and not really obvious in the picture is the 'effect' of the bee floating in space and being drawn into a red vortex along with the seeds which also appear to be floating ( the more wine the better it looks ;) ). A sort of 3D effect I haven't experienced before. I'd like to say I worked for it  but it was a sheer fluke.
I agree with Paul, a bit of "clarity' does seem to lost in the uploading process. I'll try and upload the TIF and see if it is any better.

I found this poor little lizard on our lawn at Bakers Hill in West Australia the other morning. Looks like a cat or fox had caused the damage, & so far my research has not discovered what sort of lizard it is. I've seen them around before & thought initially that it was a small snake as they slither around rather snake like, but closer inspection of this one does reveal some small legs:
