S1 parts and work shop manuals

Hi,
I guess it's time to get a copy of a parts manual, and a workshop manual for the Series 1

An AULRO great has offered me a copy of a parts manual on CD, just wondering if anyone has an electronic copy of the above that could be emailed.

I do like the idea of a hard copy, just can't justify the $80 each for a copied version either.

No, I'm just as corrupt as the rest of them. :angel:

It is just that I am the complete Land Rover tragic, with nearly the full set of hard copy manuals, that cover all the variants that I'm infatuated with.

The real issue is that when we steal an electronic copy of a book that is still in print and has an active copyright, like most of the genuine Land Rover manuals, then it is no longer a viable business proposition for the owner of the copyright to continue to keep the book in print.

So in a very short period of time those of us who want to have the hard copy sitting on our bookshelves, so we don't have to boot up a computer everytime we want to find the part number of a wheel nut, will have to pay exorbitant prices of hundreds of dollars to ebay gougers for books that used to be readily available and inexpensive.

Look what happened to the price of the James Taylor guide to Land Rover series one civil and military book, the price when from almost give away to hundreds of dollars.

I was wondering what what happened with the view count climbing, but no responses.

Didn't think we were all stuck in the 50's with hard copies.
I did notice after putting up the post, that the LRSOC have hard copies at fair price.

I picked up a copy of James Taylor's guide to Series 1 for $36 brand new and delivered, impressive, down from $80.
It's a difficult line to work out what is fair for items and service, but with just about everything being made in China just about every thing is being de valued.
Imagine how Porche and Mercedes will feel when you can buy a good copy for 1/8 the price. I have no idea where we are all going with it, but have to agree paying $80 for a copies manual printed in China means I have paid $79 too much.

Hi Jason,

I just bought some parts manuals from Paddocks in the UK. I had some other stuff I was getting so it seemed reasonable to get them too. Price was slightly better than the LRSOC though you would need to find out the postage cost from each as well if that was all you were buying.

Any electronic versions I have come across of the Series one workshop manuals are missing quite a few bits. I think they all come from one original scan and it missed all the bits I have really needed so far.
