Hello All,

I just bought a brand new tarp (hood) from Exmoor Trim. I bought it over the internet from John Craddock (UK) and everything was great. Follow up emails etc, cost was about $800 (including a carpet set). Delivery time to Darwin from UK was only 8 days!! Trust me when I say thats good, because it usually takes 10 days for Australian Mail!! :D

It was very exciting to pick up the parcels from the post office and bring them home. As I have only ever bought ex-army rag tops in the past (3 of them). This was followed by great disapointment when I tried to fit it to my landy. It seems that the whole left hand side has been sewn to far forward!!! The fit is **** and all the loop holes along the bottom of the sides are out of place on both sides!! Anyway, I have asked a local canvas place to make a couple of adjustments and hope it will fit when it comes back (another $150).

Just annoyed because I thought Exmoor where 'the' canvas suppliers for Land Rover. Grrrr!!

Regards,

Tim

Had the same issues as you there, super fast postage from Brookwells in the UK, but the Hood was a big let down, ill fitting, and the eyelets damaged the body work, threatened Exmoor with legal action, and they supplied me with a Mohair one FOC, that was not much better, having spoke to LR owners in the UK, exmoor are not highly regarded and theres better other products in the Uk..

I have used All Wheel Trim for a few bits and they seem OK.

Had a look in the phone book for A Local, but couldn't find him. :wasntme:

You are never a local until you ride on the school bus.

OK, if you need your hand held, try this place for starters:

Rollins Canvas and Party Hire - Canopies and Covers (http://www.rollins.com.au/canopies.html)

[p.s. - just googled - not an endorsement]

Hi Isuzurover

I had better not take up your kind offer to hold my hand, the misses would start asking the sort of questions I couldn't answer! :D

Getting back to the theme of this thread, what is required is the name of supplier's, that have a range of true to type, canopies already on the self and that way there is no holdup with the design.

That is where both my two hoods on my 90 came from. Great quality and fit nice. The full length roof has been on the 90 for nearly 9 years and still fits great and looks good and that had lived on the 90 , for 3 years in the Uk before coming to Aus

Just got a quote for a new mohair hood from All Wheel Trim Ltd. for Ralph 88" SWB and they quoted me 476 GBP+vat+freight ($765 AUD)which isn't too bad considering I had on made for a minimoke about 5 years ago and it cost $1100.

You will not have to pay VAT.

Yeah, I know. I just realised I added that. Got some electronics parts for SWMBO's car out of the UK last week, $87 AUD landed or $182.50 from a Holden stealership.
