Went for a weekend walking a section of the Bicentennial Trail last weekend in Oxley Wild Rivers Nat Pk, along Kunderang Brook. What a fabulous bit of bush. A shame about the hazard reduction smoke though.
We drove in to Youdales Hut on Friday arvo through Werrikimbie Nat Pk, east of Walcha (key required) and that would have to be one of the best Nat Pk camp areas I have ever encountered. It actually has paved areas around the fireplace/bbq's.
It is not easy walking, as you cross the brook numerous times and there are some quite steep sections of fire trail to climb. I haven't carried a pack for a few years and had a little over 20kg's on my back, which I felt on the hill climbs :(. We only walked in around 12 k's on the Saturday, and camped, then on Sunday walked further north (sans pack) to middle hut, then returned, packed up camp and walked back out to Youdales, which made around 19 k's for that day. Overnighted again at Youdales then returned home Monday, tired, sore but happy.
Will be heading back in there at the earliest opportunity as there is a lot of great places to explore in there, especially off the beaten track. Unfor tunately I did not take a camera, so of course it never happened. :D
