Well, I've just about had enough...

Today, the drivers door refused to be unlocked, either with the key or by lifting the lock inside. It's happened a couple of times before, but always rights itself within 30 seconds or so.

Not this time. I've tried everything I can short of ripping off the door trim thus damaging it. It's now time to take it to someone before I start throwing matches at it.

Anyone know somewhere around Newcastle that would be able to fix this without leaving me broke?

Had the same thing happen to me (95 Defer 130). Took off the door trim and the linkage to the latch had kinked the wrong way (like a dislocated knee). Just pushed it back and its been fine ever since.

Hey Dazza,

Last time I was at all4x4 Ben Robinson, I think, was the main guy. Is he now at Dungog?

Yes Ben and 3 of the guys have left and at Dungog now, Ben did some work on my car last week (viscous hub bearing) and prices are very good.

He is on holidays this week but thats where you will find him.

I managed to get the door unlocked again, and pulled the trim off. I couldn't see any obvious issues, even after pulling the passenger door trim off for comparison.

After a bit of fiddling, the drivers door can now be locked without pushing the door release button in

Also, it still has the problem, but if I turn the key pretty hard, it will unlock. However, it can't be manually unlocked from inside the vehicle. :(

I think I'll take it to Dungog for a look-see. I can't put up with that sort of problem for 12 months around Australia!

Thanks Dazza. Good to know and Dungog is a little closer to me as well :).

What type of LR are we talking about?,if it's a defender you'll see a rod with a threaded end on it and a right angled piece with a locking tab on the other that adjusts the lock engagement, simply wind it a turn or two to take up the slack. Pat

Thats what happened to mine. The locking tab (plastic) was at the bottom of the door. It was an easy home fix with stuff from the tool shed bits and pieces box.
