Hi Guys,
picked up a TD6 rangie on the weekend. All I can say is even though its got some bugs to iron out, :woot: !!!!!!
Anyways, where do you DIY'ers get your bits and bobs from?
Fuel filters / pollen filters / oil filters / air filters etc......
Online places? Ebay? Local in Australia?
I am in Adelaide, and there is a few parts places locally, which I am happy to support for somethings, but I have bought a few big ticketthings for the classic and P38 online from over the seas.

This is a quote from Karcraft last month for parts. All items are sent Express Post.
I have no affliliaion with Karcraft except for being a very happy customer for the last couple of years.

Hi jsp
I paid $72 + postage for a service kit from the UK. Sorry I can't tell you what the postage was as it was in with a much larger order

Which UK supplier are you using? I had a service kit sent over that ended up costing nearly as much as the local quote posted above. Shipping was more than the kit

Hi Harlie
Have used
Britcar (UK) Ltd (http://www.brit-car.co.uk/)
Homepage - Britpart - The Quality Parts for Land Rovers (http://www.britpart.com/homep.asp?PageRef=1)
Rimmer Brothers - Triumph Car Parts, MG Rover Car Parts, and Land Rover Car Parts and Spares (http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/)
Also try
Duckworth Land Rover Parts: Land rover spare part, Land rover part uk, Genuine land rover part (http://www.duckworthparts.co.uk/landrover/welcome.html) as on FFRR forum
Land Rover Parts from the Online Land Rover Parts Shop - LRDirect (http://www.lrdirect.com/)
Some times it all depepents on who has specials on an item I'm after at the time. Ask for postage quote before committing.
Or search E-Bay.co.uk . The search engine is your best friend

Hi JSP
Postage often depends on how big / heavy item is. If bulky, can you order other stuff to fill box. Sometimes you can also ask for a slower service.
I had a bull bar sent from UK.So filled box with other goodies

I can supply a filter kit for the Range Rover TD6 for AU$90. This includes all the filters (including the one most people forget!), but not oil. Postage could be about AU$80, but I would need to weigh and measure one to be sure.
I can supply an OME spec service kit for AU$100.

Hi jsp
Castrol Australia recommends - Castrol Edge 0w-40
Castrol UK recommends - Castrol Edge 5w40 Diesel ( not available in Oz )

I don't think you need to be too fussy with oil. We use Comma semi-synthetic 5w/30 in them. So long as it's a decent brand to the right grade, you'll be fine.

Well I went the cheap oil option with valvoline synpower 5w40.
I did fuel filter air filter headlights wiperblades etc.
When trying to get the oil filter off I couldn't and the 35mm plastic nut sheared off. I filled it with oil as I needed a car to drive but there's a job for the near future :(
I didn't even budge the filter housing and it doesn't leak.

I really don't know why these seem to be over-tightened, the O-ring that does the sealing is completely independant of the tension on the thread.
Just tight enough that it can't vibrate loose, and it's done.
