Smiths temp gauages

I have removed the twin temp gauges from the pump mount, and both require new CAPILLARY's around 8 ft, the gauges may need a refurb is this something that can still be done?

Yes - any competent instrument fitter. I use St George Instruments, but undoubtedly there will be someone in your area.

In my 101 I have the water temp gauge and oil temp gauge - both are capillary and in my vehicle both have the tube and bulb missing. From the above can I take it that as long as the gauge itself is OK they could be rebuilt with a new tube and bulb??

The Blanchford compete gauges are reasonably priced and while the listings indicate they will go on a 101, 101 Club members have indicated the tube is not long enough to reach the engine - ok for a series where it just goes through the firewall but not long enough to go back to to the engine in a 101.

An instrument fitter will make the capillary as long or short as you need. In fact they usually want to know that detail.

BTW: Isn't the oil temp electric and the pressure capillary, fitted with unions that can be disconnected? (Sorry if my 101 knowledge is deficient)

Thanks for that, I might try and get mine fixed - next time I go to Sydney I will take mine up.

The oil pressure light is obviously electric but both temp gauges are capilliary.

Sorted a very nice chap in Brisbane.

I have one end that goes to a kind of t-section on the oil cooler pipes just below the passenger footwell. the other on, is not connected and is on the left hand side engine bay, as theres 2 temp gauges, one i the cab one at the back, where, would the back one connect into. As mines not got the 6 Clyinder engine, could this be why its not fitted??
