Hey guys,
My parents were coming up to visit me in Yulara on decided that it'd be smart to drive the rental car through the night up the Stuart Hwy. Well they learnt the hard way I suppose, Airbags went off and a very pricey excess :/ Everyone's ok though....

Glad everyone is OK, and its good that its covered by the excess.
I've heard horror stories about single vehicle accidents not being covered in some rental car policies.

Ohh yeah, well it seems as if the excess cover wont cover it taking the total excess from $500 to $3500 :/

It pays to shop around for rental cars. I picked one up this morning from Brisbane airport from redspot after initially making a reservation with europcar. Europcar had a $4000 excess and if we went through a toll were liable for the cost. Europcar messed us around a bit so we went next door and redspot had NO excess and any tolls were included in the price.
The daily rate may be slightly higher but not by much. The woman at the desk told us that a young fellow last week returned a car that had hit a roo and walked away smiling as he had the no excess option.
