hey all, my neighbour is rebuilding an old BSA bike. It has banjo fittings and bolts on the oil line. looks like a simple metal - metal, tapered seal. IS this the case? do you put any hymolar or the like on them?

cheers,
Serg

My memory and a skimming of Google says soft metal washers.

tape or thread sealant on the taper pipe threads and fibre or copper washers on the fittings

ok, Im not quite getting this??? His set up is, a small length of pipe, say 1/4, with a banjo fitting brazed on each end. The bolt has a hole in the smooth shank where it is inside the fitting, the face/edge of the bolt is taperd and so is the face of the banjo..

So, tape on the tread? washers on the face of the fitting/bolt???
