Hi, i have just purchased a '95 D1 V8 and want to put it on gas.
So is the injected gas worth the extra money or will it run well on the older style system? I plan to use manifold tanks in the back.
Also who do you recommend in Melbourne to do the conversion?

Injected gas on a D1 is a bit overkill, it works best on vehicles with more modern petrol ECU's which accurately control mixture (e.g. a D2). Gas injection slaves off the petrol system so won't be especially impressive.

I have developed a peculiar mix of parts to make a D1 work at its best with a mixer system. Once you have found an installer (try reading all the LPG threads first) I may be able to advise or supply suitable gear. Off-the shelf parts that are commonly fitted to a D1 can be disappointing, both in power and economy. Oh and I strongly advise a Bosch ignition amplifier upgrade, it makes a D1 more reliable with gas fitted.

i think that you will find plenty of other threads on this, but

I had my D2 done by RangeRov in Nunawading on recommendation of a mate. Injected. Awesome job. really neat. Never had 1 drama.

At the same time my brother in law had their Poojero done by a generic mob (injected too) and what a crap job it was. Lift the bonnet and  Ongoing probs too. Stick with a LR specalist...

Come to think of it why did i sell it? :o

Consider a trip to Adelaide. I am sure that beeutey can sort it out for you, and probably have a 'free' holiday too.
I recently had my 300tdi gassed by beeutey and it was well worth the trip over from Canberra.

I second beeutey for a recommendation.

he's done my classic with scuba tanks, basically the same car as yours, and my P38.

Both going strong after a few years, with 60 thou on the p38 and 40 thou on the classic since conversion.
