I have been tracking our new Discovery via the shipping company's site, and talk about a "slow boat to China". It left Southampton (UK) on the 30th September, and is about 7 days out of Port Elizabeth (South Africa), then Durban, Reunion Island, Freemantle, Melbourne, Port Kembla and finally Brisbane. By the time it arrives, it will have been half way around the world, and only a few kms on the clock. Great machine.

ETA Brisbane is the 12th November. Allowing 10 days to clear Customs, Quarantine etc, and then to the dealer for cleaning and what not, we should have our hands on it around the 22nd.

I want to do around 1,000 km before we match it with the caravan we have bought. Once both come together then off we go travelling.

Best wishes

Yes will go down well for a Xmas present.
We bought a friend's, Supreme Territory Special Build 22'6" internal and around 3200kg with all water tanks, gas bottles full, food, clothing etc onboard.

We came close to buying one of those they are a nice Van. The Salesman killed it by pulling the hard sell on us. I warned him about trying that kind of stuff he tried we walked.

Personally I decided to do over 5000 + k's on our new crate 2.7 engine along with one oil and filter change before hitching up our van behind the D3.

Maybe this is overkill when it comes to running it in but I would rather take it a bit slower and make sure the new engine is run in properly then stress it while its brand new.

cheers,
Terry

Bruce, I had only 1200 Klm's on my D4 3.0Lt prior to hitching up my 2.2 ton boat and going on a 4 hour trip.
I think if you dont over rev it, it will be fine...........in fact probably help bed things in quicker.
The extra load on the engine won't hurt it, providing its not pushed too hard.
I have now travelled over 70,000 Klm's and she still purrs like a kitten :)

Cheers, Craig
