Ok just back from a trip to the tip!

My 130 has a 140ltr LRA fuel tank fitted, whilst on the bitumen the fuel pump was quiet in it's operation, but when I got to Laura and the dirt started I could here it when I stopped driving, quite noisy? Any ideas? With a full tank it was ok but after only 2-300 kays I could here it again. When I returned to the blacktop, never heard it again?

Any ideas experts?

Cheers Barney!

Age of pump and mileage it has done may help the 'experts' to diagnose.

Sounds strange though, with the noise disappearing when back on the black ribbon.
Is performance affected at all?

Hmmm sorry I put a new pump in about June 2010, and it would have done about 20000ks

my pump also gave me greif with my 140 ltr tank for a bit. i found that after changing the fuel filter a few timeit has stopped screaming and causing starting problems when near empty. the pump had been replaced twice prior to this with no positive result. only when i was using up my box of spare filters did it stop. they had all been genuine LR though. perhaps this might help

I replaced mine when I got it, it already had the 127L tank installed and was quite noisy all the time.

When I replaced it there was no change to the noise at all, it sounded exactly the same - but mine doesn't stop being noisy at all. Must be something to do with the bumps, maybe your tank has lots of diesel snot in it?

LOL Diesel Snot? Is that the growth that occurs inside the tank? The boys at MR Auto suggested I drop the tank out, clean it fully then use the fuel additive to stop the growth from recurring! Not sure whether to bother or just put up with it being noisy on the corrugations!

What fuel additive do people use for the TD5?
