How do we get at the bulbs to replace them?
I have taken the top off the switch for my EAS over ride button and my cruise control button.
It looks to me like the bulb is fitted from the drivers side of each switch and not through the inside of the switch.
Surely i dont have to take the dash apart?
Any one done the job lately?

Yep.
I have written it up here (and on linked pages): Fascia Switch Pack (http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/fasciaswitch.html)

Rumour has it that one can slip a feeler gauge down each side of the switch to release the clips and the switch will come out. I haven't tried it yet. I will soon as I have to replace a few bulbs.

Thanks Ron, i knew you would have an answer.
And fast.
I had an inkling trying to get something down the side would pop them out.
I will try it in the morning.

Well, I can confirn that the rumour is wrong.
For a start the switch clips are at the top and bottom of the switches!
Seriously, I just tried it on a spare fascia panel and I couldn't release them with feeler gauges - at least not with the pressure I was willing to exert.
The switches come out from the front.
I've just pulled the EAS switch and am trying to work out how to access the bulbs. On the other switches, the bulbs plug in from the side.
Aha! Access is from the rear of the switch. Insert screwdriver into hole, engage slot in bulb base, and rotate anti-clockwise. Shake the switch to get the lamp out.
Sorry about the quality of the pix. I'll take some more in the next couple of days.
The four height lights are soldered-in LEDs.

So what did you push in at the top and the bottom to release the clips?

I used screwdrivers from the back of the panel for the EAS switch. On the others, one can release the switches with one's fingers. Don't forget, I'm working with a spare panel here in front of the computer.

Anyone found a decent local supplier for these at a reasonable price? I tried a few LED replacements bulbs off fleabay but none worked properly... globes too long or mount not quite right.
Cheers, Paul.

I had another go with a feeler gauge and released the EAS clip. The trouble is that the metal clip is now somewhere in the garage. SPROING! :(

Good. I need a couple. I have the panel out of mine at the moment whilst I'm fixing a failed RH blend servo motor.
I'm annoyed in that I fitted new distribution and blend flap servos when I did the heater core a couple of years ago. I hoped I'd never have to do them again. I replaced the RHS motor in 2002 (with a second hand motor) and it had worked fine ever since. It may be going back in!
I'm also fitting this (courtesy of JSP of this forum and who removed it from his P38A):

VMS cost more than my Rangie is worth!

VMS App for iPad and iPhone is only $200. Tempting... then just find a decent bracket to mount it to the dash.
Updated thought: unless someone has figured how to hack the Kenwood/Garmin stereo/GPS thingy to get topo maps and a better interface. Just putting it out there before I press the pretty button on the iTunes Store :)
